To me Kanye has always been simply a top 10 Alltime Hip-Hop producer, and not much more. Are any of you strong Kanye fans? Haters? Why, why not? Everyone I have talked to tends to be quite polarized when it comes to discussing Kanye, so I'd thought id see where he stands among the prestigious Jazzfanz musical afficionados.

Kan-meh West.

If Kicky could somehow get into his pants, I have no doubt that he would. I'm sure he'll chime in here with a lengthy post about how his music (can you really call it that?) cures cancer, is used to soothe babies who are in ICU's, and will someday be the universal lubricant for the nWo.

My two cents? I wouldn't wipe my *** with anything he's produced. His 'music' is below putrid. As a human being, I wouldn't piss on him to put out a fire. He ranks right up there with O.J., Michael Jackson, and that crazy bitch who got away with murdering her kids. Worthless.

WTF kicky likes him? And here I thought he was an intelligent fella.

He's great when you compare him to somebody that is shockingly terrible like Lil Wayne. Rap fell off a cliff after RUN DMC.

Id stretch it by saying quality rap as a worldwide phenomenon died with Outkast's second last album in 2003. Hsnt been the same since.

I like him, and since Im a grown adult, I don't pay attention to any of his media antics. I just listen to the music.

I'm definitely looking at it retroactively since I didn't actually live through rap's progression myself as I'm not that old, but that was its peak in my mind. That's not to say I'm casting everything after that off as crap, just as being not as good. I had CD pouches full of rap over the years so I certainly had a strong liking for it at some point.

Oh well hell I grew up with rap at the turn of the century (pretty sure I'm the youngest board member except JohnStockalypse) but I think I get what you're saying. Hip Hop seemed to be a lot more fun, relaxed, and soulful earlier in the 90s. As tends to happen, commerciality diluted the product. And quite frankly I respect Kanye simpler as a great producer, and nothing more. His lyrics are horse-****

I've never been a big fan of rap and I'll tell you why. There just aren't any harmonies to it like the beach boys and too much "slang" thrown left and right. But I still listen to Tupac when I can, it's something I hide from the kids because I'm frankly embarrassed by it. His rhymes fall like rain and his dreams flow into my mouth. Kanye, on the other hand, I don't know anyone named Kayne.

On this, we can agree.

Two-Pack-Shacker was the bomb diggity.
