What's new

The Lakers, Kevin Love and the Utah Jazz

Locke has said the Boozer is Kanter's ceiling. We forget how good Boozer was for us. He was amazing. Had he had a defensive C behind him, he and DWill might still be here (which I don't know if that is good or not). We were spoiled with Malone, ripped on Boozer too much and were stuck with Al because of it.

If Kanter could ever get to Boozer's level, that would be an amazing success.

Oh, so Locke has spoken. End of discussion. Case closed, eh?

Nothing against Locke, as he is a fine person, and I enjoy his Tip-Off podcast, but there is a reason why the Jazz don't consult him when scouting talent. Locke has traditionally been one of Kanter's biggest critics. If the FO that Al or Boozer was Kanter's ceiling, why would they let Al go? Be patient.

That's fine. Please show me anyone that doesn't post here, that still sees Kanter becoming as good as Boozer.

We completely overvalue a guy that doesn't pass, hasn't shown the ability to hit a mid range shot, doesn't play defense, isn't overly athletic, doesn't block shots, doesn't run the floor, etc.

He does hit mid range shots, and he does run the floor. It is baffling that you expected him to be better without playing, or having an offseason. How exactly was he supposed to get better? He is not overvalued, he is not inder valued. He is developing, so be patient and see where it goes.

Here is one for you: As far as whether or not Kanter and Favors will have problems coexisting, the GM said, “Frankly, that’s nonsense.”

......Where doe this "Ummmmm" come from. Is it just me or do other people find it condescending?......

Didn't mean to sound condescending, so I apologize.
The Kanter/Favors concern was voiced last summer. Maybe when I get home and have the time I can go back to the Trib or DNews archives and find a couple of articles.
Kanter was absolutely horrible on defense this year. Thanks to Corbin, we have a small sample size of the Favors/Kanter combo, but they certainly struggled. Can they improve? Certainly. But I'll admit I'm worried about Kanter's plans to shoot outside. His strength is on the offensive boards and with his footwork underneath (learned from Big Al). Is he going to park himself on the perimeter now? I hope I'm very wrong about Kanter. I just see him as always being a defensive liability at PF.

I have to say, this has been my most favorite thread in a long time. Lots of good stuff, good ideas, great points of view. Not nasty, but very informative.

Thanks guys. Great thread.
