What's new

THE MORNING AFTeR

The Jazz got lucky on a few fronts:

1) Noel dropped more than anyone expected. NOLA picked him and traded him to Philly for J'rue Holliday instead of taking a PG.

2) Ben McLemore fell to the Kings, keeping them from picking a PG.

3) Detroit took Caldwell-Pope, whom the T'wolves wanted, meaning that the T'wolves became willing to move down and had only 10 minutes to pull the trigger on a deal to do so. The T'wolves were chasing a scoring wing when they could have just stayed at 9 and taken McCollum or Steven Adams.

4) Jazz jumped in and sealed the deal before another team could trade with Minny (for Burke, McCollum or MCW). Boston was already committed to a deal with Dallas. Philly was already embroiled in their deal with NOLA. The Jazz timed it right.

It was Stern's last draft. He was just playing with the crowd. I thought it was funny.
Me as well. As a certified card carrying Stern hater, I thought his performance last night as the announcer was great. Had me laughing a few times. It has got to be hard to get booed everytime you take the stage yet he handled it and even joked about it with the fans.

In the vidabove, Burke comes across as a very grounded, focused young man. Lindsey has done well, and did what he said he wanted to do...

So true. I was pleasantly surprised to hear how humble and grounded he is. Was very impressed by his attitude and demeanor. Deron, as much as I used to love him, had an attitude from day one. Burke seems much more down to earth and laid back, which is great. Apparently, I learned during my morning of reading everything I could find about Burke, that he's a fierce competitor underneath that cool exterior. Love him already. That sort of attitude was part of what I loved about Stockton (not comparing their games), he didn't need to talk all the time, he let his game do the talking.

I still can't believe this. So, so happy.
This is the most excited I've been after a draft since we got Deron. I actually might be more excited because I've wanted this guy since about mid season. Just did not see a way before the draft that we get him.

So many things to love about the draft. Besides that getting Gobert was a heist, We now have PROOF that Lindsey is the guy. And holy hell, did he make a statement with his first at bat. Two trades up and didn't really give anything up for a guy I would've considered taking #1 if it was the Jazz's (or traded down from there to get Burke) and one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft. TWO TRADES AND PROBABLY KILLED IT BOTH TIMES. I have so much more faith in this organization right now. Oh, and the Jazz sent CASH!!! I'm pretty sure that's the first time that's ever happened. It seems ownership is committed to winning and to building the right way and in tow with Lindsey's vision. I have had some doubts of KOC along the way, but I think he's needed some help and input along the way, and Lindsey is bringing the hell out of it.

Just over the moon.

Let's also not forget that the pick of Gobert makes the chances of re-signing Al (and hopefully Sap, as well) much smaller.

Did this franchise finally get its head out of its ***?

KOC seems to have a lot of connections and respect around the league. I think that is his main contribution to the FO now.
