The Move Forward Plan - NO TANK DISCUSSION IN THIS THREAD

He fits basketball wise and what we’d be looking for in a player.

I think we're still missing a distributor. Miles is a really good fit with Lamelo, for example. Miles and Lauri would be a great tandem as far as play finishing....but still need a lead ball handler. I don't think you need to have all the pieces together in on year though.

Purely as a basketball player, I could see Bridges being like the wing version of Sexton.

What move out there puts us squarely in the playoffs going far? I don’t see any way we aren’t better than playin to the sixth seed and a first round exit. So I’m seeing my way out of this conversation, and if you all had brains this convo would be terminated. This is skipping steps. I see no moves that catapult to the level we need to be unless Danny goes nuts and gets two stars.

Thank you for your valuable contribution to this thread.

Dejounte Murray, Herb Jones and Trey Murphy. Pels is definitely tearing it all down after deferring the Lakers first round pick for next year. All signs point to them being a selling team in the summer.

I don’t see how them deferring the Lakers pick to a better draft means they are tearing it down.

This is not about what we should do. This thread is acknowledging that this is the route the franchise could take (as has been reported) and talking about what that might look like. You have a smooth brain if you are unable to read and understand that concept. If you want to whine about not tanking, every other thread turns into a discussion about why we should tank.

We ought to have at least one place on this forum where we talk about what the Jazz are actually likely to do. Even if you think the Jazz will tank....plenty of space to talk about that direction. Yall are not profound for saying "we should tank" in every single discussion.

NOP just needs to reshuffle a bit. They want to move Ingram because they believe in Herb/Trey....and that makes sense. Moving Ingram to give them a better situation at PG/C makes all the sense in the world.

Yep. 100%.

I'd eliminate anyone 30 or over off the bat. That's been a pretty consistent message. They trade anyone approaching 30 or over.

I think Brandon Ingram is the name I like the most. He really just needs to be coached a bit stricter. No idea why/how he went from a quality highish volume 3pt shooter to a guy who wants to be a Derozany type. Does he want to play that way? Was he coached that way? Does he do that because his PG went from Lonzo Ball to CJ McCollum?

I'm just terrified of the Utah tax on his next contract. He's not a 3rd contract max caliber player, but he/his agent are going to absolutely get everything they can out of Utah if they trade for him.

Mildly interested in LaVine, but he's bumping up against 30 and not the most consistent health wise

I also still have interest in Trae just because I think he's a potential top 5 offensive player who might have the current biggest gap between his actual value and his value around the NBA because so many people hate Trae Young and blame the Hawks failures on him. Feel like it has to be a 3-team deal because no way the Hawks take back John Collins?

I'm not pro-tank, but I think I am pro "stay the course" of doing what we've been doing the last two years. Would like another year to see who proves themselves among whoever we draft this year, Keyonte, Brice, Kessler and Hendricks while trying to prop up our existing expendable vets (JC^2) for trade value.

This is very well said. This makes me want to rethink my thoughts on Ingram a bit due to the contract he might command because it does give me a little pause.

Ben Simmons is the play. You can sell it as "big game" and if it doesn't work you have max cap space and likely a top 6-7 pick. Not sure what Brooklyn's plan is but if Donny signs and extension they are likely on to plan b, c, d. I think Ben is basically done, but if he did get it together it would be in a contract year.

With Atlanta and NO they both want win-now players instead of picks (they can swap picks for win-now I know) not sure we are a great trade partner. I could see Brooklyn being in on Trae as well... and maybe not interested in the JCx2 package.

Not at all lol. If Ben is good well you got someone cheap. If he sucks you have space to do some damage in the next FA... all while taking an extended look at the guys you picked the last two years.

Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball... we might even get a pick or two to take on them... shots at reclamation projects with low risk(expiring contracts). And if they actually get healthy and recover, they both have some of the things this roster is lacking the most - playmaking and unselfishness, defensive length and versatility.

That is really not the purpose of this thread. It’s just a way for pro-tank guys to throw out trades that are faux buys.
