What's new

the mystery of Alec Burks

He kinda pisses me off. Every injury with him takes 3x longer to heal then other players. He's been out 4-5 months with a "knee cleanout" like did they take the whole knee out?

The training staff makes these calls not him. The guy loves basketball... it's probably killing him.

Makes me sad too.

And to think that AB might never turn into the player he could be because he hits the ground so much just sucks. I'm not sure he can change his game.

In this regard he reminds me of AK. They Play with such reckless abandon, so often out of control, so not in touch with their athleticism that they just go at every play so hard injuries are bound to happen. He needs to actually learn some restraint. not every drive to the basket requires jumping over 3 defenders and 2 of your own teammates. Look at how Malone turned largely away from dunks as his career progressed to preserve his body. Burks needs to learn and play within his limitations.

Burks is a bargain? How the **** is a guy that never plays a bargain at 10 M per year? I'm sure his injuries are legit, it's just hard to fathom a guy being a bargain that never seems to be healthy enough to play and is also a 10M a year player. That's not close to a bargain.

In comparison to some of the contracts handed out last offseason, I'd MUCH rather have an injured Burks at 10 million, with hopes that he'll recover, than comparable healthy players that make a **** ton more. It sucks having him out, but this year we really do have the depth be able to afford patience. As frustrating as it is for fans, I'd imagine it's a million times worse for him. Let's all keep our fingers crossed he comes back soon and stays healthy the rest of the year.

In the mean time, the silver lining so far has been Joe Johnson coming out in game 1 in a situation where we needed him to be a go to scorer, and he responded in spades. A fully healthy team would have been much more difficult for him to have gotten those minutes, and the sooner he fits in and gels with the team, the better.

Evan Turner: 4 years $70 mil.
Alec Burks: 3 years $30 mil.

If he can get healthy at all, he's a steal in this market.
