The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I would be selling Green off though for sure… likely can get something out of LA. I move from there.

Remember the Harden/Morey situation where I called out Morey's strategy and told you that Harden will burn him? I told you exactly what was about to happen and how Morey was overplaying his hand.

Here is a reminder (Harden quit like 3 days later):

This time around its painfully obvious that Dunleavy should try to get calls ASAP to see whats out there.... and he instead dangles only Wiggins out there who is just about as interesting as a bag of turnips. Its not like Klay is the type of guy who draws interest automatically with the way he is playing right now, but there probably is a market for him, if you really want to move on. For Moody Dunleavy doesnt have any idea who could really be interested, so definitely should leak out that "they may consider trading Moody for a player who improves them now".

Leverage does not exist if you have the most expensive roster in the history of the NBA and are 12th and trending downwards. Everyone can smell blood in those waters.
Sixers having a pretty great season. So I was right about Harden not tanking the season. Harden never got on the court to quit on the court, so IDK what your point is. Morey ended up getting as good a deal as he could get.

I'm sure Dunleavy is getting a ton of calls. You just can't seem overly eager to do anything. If it becomes known you're actively shopping Moody or Klay, then teams will feed off that.

I'd be interested in Klay depending on the price.

Imagine him replacing Simone in the starting lineup.....

I know he isnt what he was once, but get him on the team, play him 25-ish MPG as the starter. His shooting would amazing on this team.

But the reality is that the Jazz probably shouldnt be going after such a win now move.

Feels like it would be really difficult to get Klay. He's expiring, so it would be a rental, but he's also $43M, meaning we need to cough up a lot just to match.

Looney always looks tired and slow but this year… dude looks like he’s for reals washed. Wiggins is on melatonin… Klay is cooked… Steph still has his fastball but not everyday. I think their options are go the route of the Mavs Dirk twilight years… suck and start adding young guys while Steph wins 30 something games a year for 2-3 years. Get less expensive… hope Curry requests out so you can get a haul for him and not be the bad guy.

This is where you need a guy like Ainge and Myers didn’t have the stomach for it. Dunleavy likely doesn’t either.
Since they need to get really bad to even have a chance at keeping this pick, I feel it's very likely there is no fire sale before the summer, unless someone calls with a huge haul for Curry.

Even if the team looks horrible right now, there is enough talent there for them to turn things around, after all.

Currently, though, it doesn't feel like they can get a lot from trades, outside of Curry.

Clarkson + Olynyk works according to Fanspo.

Just a question of how many future assets they would want back.

Just praying the Warriors keep playing like absolute dog **** so they feel pressure to get some kind of deal done.

Klay has actually been on fire in January and back to his usual production. I think he would be incredible in the Jazz offense in Simone's starting spot.

Klay also seems like the kind of dude who wouldnt mind living in SLC? The big question is how much you'd be willing to re-sign him for in the off-season as he would certainly milk Utah's small market status into overpaying to keep him.

I wouldn't give up much, tbh. He's great, but for just a few months and the right to overpay him in the summer? Not so sure. He _is_ 33, and while he's been productive again now, he's been much less consistent, and I'm not sure his motivation would be the same it has been.

I get out from under Greens deal ASAP. Even if the return is like Dlo or Rui and that’s it. He’s one more dumbass move away from being untradeable even to the Lakers. Dallas also might consider Green… or at least had interest before.

Dolan getting sued for sexual assault stuff with Weinstein involved… yowza… dude travels with a harem when he comes to Vegas I know that.

De'Aaron Fox won the new "clutch player of the year" award last year. This year, he wont be in the running...

He is averaging 39.6% shooting in the clutch, and is the worst clutch 3 point shooter in the league at 0/13, and the 2nd worst FT shooter (min 10 attempts) at 60% (12/20).

SAC win loss record in clutch games is still decent (10 wins, 7 losses), which is sort of wild cause as a team they have shot 44/26/74 in clutch minutes.

Interesting. I've heard clutch stats are all about small samples and they fluctuate year to year. But then watching Donovan in the clutch while he was here I stopped believing that. I guess it depends on the player.

Its a small sample business so there is a lot of fluctuations YoY. But its still real for that year in question.

Btw interesting thing is that this year in clutch PPG, Clarkson is #16 in the NBA, Keyonte is #18 and Lauri is #24. So we have 3 top 25 clutch (per game) scorers for the year (we rank 2nd in clutch points, #1 in clutch net rating, and 5th in clutch win%)

Why is Pelicans in the deal. Kira Lewis is an expiring anyways and they shouldn't have to give away a second to get rid of him.
