The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I've always appreciated Jokic's approach to games, where the top priority early on is getting his teammates to get their shots. Thus, he has been able to conserve his energy during the game and is fresher in the clutch than his counterpart, e.g. AD in the Lakers series.

Now Luka did the complete opposite. He hit Minnesota in the face early on, made them panic, and as a result, the corner threes were wide open the entire rest of the game. I have to admit that maybe Jokic should start the game with this mentality every now and then.

They have a VERY small opening now with Rudy aging quickly.

To my eyes he lost more than a few steps this year. Not sure he can be as effective next year.

Also they had the element of surprise this year. Next year teams will scout them much better.
Rudy just had his best season, he isn't aging that quickly.

You're being kind of a moron for conflating regular season and the post season

Besides the final game that was a very close series. It could have easily gone the other way with a few different shots. I think Minny really burned themselves out against Denver. Oh well, this is going to be a very boring finals. I hope neither team wins, which means I wont be watching anymore NBA this year. I would put my effort into the draft but its pretty likely we trade out of most the picks it seems or at least trade positions so who knows where that will end up.

I really hate the Celtics.

Especially because they stole prime Hayward away from us.

The truth is that as long as Minny and Cleveland have their stars in good health they will be solid playoff teams for years to come.

We just kind have to accept these picks will be high teens at best unless something unexpected/unpredictable happens.

I would say the Wolves probably have a slightly higher probability of having a random bad season just because of the (likely) continued conference imbalance even though I think they are clearly the better team with the better future as of today.

Whenever you get the chance to exchange two $10 bills for 400 nickels, you just have to do it. That's way too many nickels to balk at.

I think as long as you have a talent like ant then you have an opening. Ant is very young.
Luka took a while to get to this point with many disappointing early exits.

I hope you are right though. I hope the wolves suck badly going forward.

Do people really find Boston more annoying than Luka and Marc Cuban?
I find Boston boring and enjoy the Mavs. Especially the Mavs role players (though I'm a Luka fan as well)

Luka is just a completely different animal. And Ant might get there too, but he's not there yet(at least on consistent basis). The more I watch modern day NBA the more I'm sold on the idea that you need one of those guys if you want to be deep playoffs contender. You need a player who can consistently play at or near MVP level even against the best of defenses and even after they throw everything at him and change their approach multiple times. Huge props to him...

It's looking more and more like we really didn't score as big of a deal as we originally thought. These picks are not going to be highly sought after imo. Our best chance is for us to tank and we can't even do that properly.

Draymond green uniting adversaries lol.

Draymond sucks

On the Donovan front:

The Cavs are likely going to hire Kenny Atkinson who shares an agent with Don. The interviews are ongoing but Donovan has final say. They've either interviewed or also plan to interview guys like Borrego (also shares an agent with Don at CAA or so I've been told) and also Alex Jensen and Johnie Bryant who have ties with Don going back to the Jazz.

Regardless what they say about a "Core 4" the real core is 2 guys: Don and Mobley.

Lebron is likely staying in LA. His wife and 2 younger kids are not leaving their LA encampment. Bronny probably ends up staying in LA too. Lebron just demolished a $37 mil mansion and is building an even grander one on the same lot in Beverly Hills. If it were just a basketball decision Lebron would likely be playing in Cleveland next season, but it's about family so he's likely staying even though Lakers have no path to win another championship the next few years. Jeanie Buss would have Lebron for his retirement tour and apparently JJ Redick to coach the team. If he plays 2 more seasons that would be 23 for him. Lakers also host the All Star Game in '26. The Suns may be a wildcard and are a short plane ride from LA, but due to 2nd apron have no way to acquire him unless Lebron just wants to basically play for free. Lebron loves James Jones but not that much.
