The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Donovan did that plenty in Utah ...
Huh? We literally lost 3 playoff series because he refused to play defense. And he basically said as much afterward. He never owned up to missing defensive assignments or anything even close to that. Not sure what games you were watching. If you could post a few video clips of him doing that in utah that'd be great.

He said "Something we almost never see with the Jazz", not "saw".

But if he meant saw, Donovan took accountability plenty in Utah as well.
Not sure you are aware but english is not his first language. I took it as nothing we saw from Donovan when he was on the jazz. Pretty sure that was the intention. And it makes more sense since he is fully aware we had Rudy Gobert, best defensive center maybe ever.

And just like with cy, please post a video of Donovan taking responsibility for his defenses lapses in Utah.

Here is him showing the opposite:

Recently, he’s had good intentions as well. Two years ago, when in Australia with USA Basketball, he heavily emphasized that he wanted to become an elite defender: “For me, the biggest thing is just to get back to my roots. The biggest thing is to elevate my defense, to get back to what got me drafted.”

We haven’t seen that in actual game action, though. Mitchell was rated as a bottom-20 defender in the NBA by FiveThirtyEight’s RAPTOR, which analyzes shot and tracking data to estimate a player’s impact on that end of the floor.

And in the playoffs, when it matters, Mitchell’s defense is having a negative impact: Players are shooting 11% better than their normal FG% when guarded by the Jazz’s star in the first three games of this series. Jalen Brunson, especially, has had a field day.

And again, Mitchell’s recent comments on the issue leave something to be desired. When he was asked about Dallas targeting him on defense, he responded: “I wouldn’t say I felt targeted, to be honest. I didn’t feel like it was like ‘Go at Donovan.’ But if that’s what they decide to do, I’m confident in my abilities on defense, and so are my teammates. But I’m not too worried about it.”

That was easy

Keaton Wallace, Cason's brother, is averaging about a steal per game and 0.6 blocks per game in 14 minutes. He's currently shooting 50% from the field and 40% from 3.

I can't help, but think that the Bucks could have picked up someone like him and they would be a much better team.

On my opinion he did not. He talk a lot about it but never really embrace it. You should watch Cavs game this year ( i watch all of them) and you can see the difference. As I say before, Don is reaching another status and is ready to be a true leader. He got his second worst season in terms of scoring ( the worst one was his rookie year) but he is a much better player than he was here.
I never been a huge fan of Don but i am glad to see what he become. Just a bit annoyed it will benefit the Cavs and not the Jazz.

I think people just have the Dallas series as their lasting memory...

Blazers playing one of the biggest lineups you will see. All 6'8 or taller. Banton/Camara/Deni/Williams/Grant

Blazers are better than expected. Minny is worst than expected. Randle play no defense and Rudy is alone there and when he sit, rebounding is awful. Ant decide he got to shoot 15 3 per games thinking he is Steph, Mike getting older.... they have to regroup fast or i won't be surprised if they ended season badly. I will also not be surprised if they trade Randle for a good back up big. Without KAT , they are really not good enough. Which is good for our pick. Too early to jump into conclusion they have big issues to deal with.

Biggest problem with MIN is that Conley looks cooked. And of course, it wouldn’t be that hard to see this coming. He’s 37 years old! The miraculous part is that he was still so good at 36. MIN knew this was around the corner. That’s why they went hard for Dillingham and prioritized DDV.

McCain had another big night. He now has a 3 game stretch of 23pts on 45/41/100 shooting.

Might just be a hot stretch, but maybe he is settling in.

What’s impressive is that he’s not just doing it from 3. His shooting was very impressive at Duke….but I definitely didn’t think he would be this good at attacking the basket especially this early on. He’s got a really high volume and efficiency of unassisted 2FGs.

The biggest problem is that DDV has regressed to his career averages instead of progressing off his career year
