Yeah I was disappointed that Malone stopped playing when he did. At the time if he had played 1 more year, maybe l part of another season past that, he would have been the leading scorer.
I'm not surprised LeBron is going to get it. He's played at a higher level for more years than about any other player. I don't think there is another player who put up nearly 30 ppg in their 19th year in the league. He's never averaged under 25 other than his rookie year. Even Kareem dropped off his last 3 years, dropping under 20 ppg all 3 of those to 10 ppg his last year. Gotta give him credit there whether you hate or love the guy. He's doing what no one has done before in basketball. That's pretty amazing.
Of course, he's only played all 82 games once in his entire career. And the last like 8 seasons he's missed like 1/4 of the games or more so that's a lot less wear and tear which helps him keep performing at a high level when he's healthy. Kareem played no less than 76 games (once) in his last 10 seasons, 8 of those 79 or more, except his last when he played 73. Malone played 80 games or more 17 seasons in his career. Imagine what he could have done with 4-6 rest games a season even.
