The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Watching Luka and Kyrie has reinforced my appreciation for ball handling. It feels like this skill consistently gets overlooked in the draft and overall NBA talent evaluations. Neither Kyrie nor Luka is the most athletic player, but they can still get wherever they want on the court because of their ability to keep their dribble alive and their high amount of feel and control while dribbling in traffic and ability to get the ball to whoever is open.
I feel like these last two drafts have been especially poor for guys that can handle at an elite level. I wonder if size and athleticism and the 3 ball have become somehow overvalued and that ballhandling isn't being focused on as much.

When you pair that great handle with elite shot making ability it is fun to watch. That is the thing that really jumps out with Ant this series is that he does have the elite shot making ability but he doesn't have the handle to maximize it yet. Of the guys in this draft the only one that has the handle and elite shot making potential is probably Rob Dillingham. His ability to create space and finish over bigger players was impressive this last year.

Luka has plus size for a ball handler and it makes him probably the best advantage creator in the league. Also, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's ability to beat defenders is predominantly based on his handle. He's not explosive or overpowering. Same with Jamal Murray. Being able to handle is just critical to self-creation, and the Jazz might currently be the worst ball-handling team in the league.

Keyonte's coming up though...

That singer sounds like a speak and spell that's drowning in mud.

You said it right: the specific focus on Gobert - and Mitchell - has been weird. But this is ALL people on this site have been talking about in the last 2-3 weeks. Praising or criticizing them, digging out some old threads and personal grievances. I would rather talk about something else but you folks are forever fixated on your ex-girlfriends and if I want to be part of the ongoing conversation I have to talk about them too...

What's weird is that Mitchell and Gobert have not left any lasting legacy in Utah and as people they are both kinda a-holes... Conley, Ingles, O'Neal, Agbaji are much more likable but nobody follows and talks about them.
I think that once our picks don't depend on the teams they are on sucking, it will be a different story.

Not 15 lbs of muscle yet.

East is so weak this year... Last three min of Celtics/Pacers game was a shaqtin'afool level ********. Brick after a turnover after another brick... Can't believe it's a conference final game we are watching.

Wait so your other thread isn't your real feelings and it's just trolling? Better turn yourself in.
I try my best to understand people from different walks of life.

On the one hand I’d like to root for Rudy ala @LogGrad98 and others and want him to win a Chip for the Twolves.

But my better self kept saying, “No, we can’t let the Twolves get that “Winning Culture” that anti-tankers such as @MT Steve and others on the forum kept harping on about here on the daily.”

I guess you could say I’m torn.

Would you have guessed, that Derrick Jones Jr in particular has as many alley oop buckets than any other TEAM in this postseason? Probably not, since he isnt even top 2 in his own team in that category.

Mavs have scored a total of 48 alley oops, while Nuggets are 2nd at 9. Luka has assisted 28 of those 20.

Top 3 alley oop finishers in the postseason:
Lively 17/21
Gafford 16/17
Jones Jr 9/10

lol @ "we can't"

Would it help to calm you down if I told you that people in this forum rooting for Gobert in the playoffs has literally zero impact on our picks?

But what about that winning culture?!!! And making them hungry!! They can feel those vibes seeping in!
