The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Watching Luka and Kyrie has reinforced my appreciation for ball handling. It feels like this skill consistently gets overlooked in the draft and overall NBA talent evaluations. Neither Kyrie nor Luka is the most athletic player, but they can still get wherever they want on the court because of their ability to keep their dribble alive and their high amount of feel and control while dribbling in traffic and ability to get the ball to whoever is open.
I feel like these last two drafts have been especially poor for guys that can handle at an elite level. I wonder if size and athleticism and the 3 ball have become somehow overvalued and that ballhandling isn't being focused on as much.
Just look at Halliburton. Basically unforced errors turning the ball over bc of a loose handle

I'm going to feel real dumb a few years from now after Minnesota dominates the league and Anthony Edwards is like "Yeah we were about to phone it in after the 2024 playoffs but then we saw all the love we were getting from JazzFanz"
Minnesota is toast in a few years. They’re a second apron team next year. Rudy is extension eligible this offseason. Last year on his deal is 2025-26 for 46M. What type of extension do you give him? He's the reining DPOY should he settle for less than what he’s worth?

It depends on Ant. He has shown super star potential at 22 years old. If he develops even more into a consistent MVP level player they will be fine for a long time. Those are easy guys to build around.

Not necessarily.

If they keep KAT, they will be a 2nd apron team and it turns difficult to make moves even on the fringes of their roster.

If they trade KAT, then they are off the hook for 2nd apron but need to find a new Robin.

Also Rudy and Ant dont really mesh well on offense. Ant cant run PnR or feed Rudy efficiently, and Rudy messes with the spacing that Ant would need to maximize his game.

That was a big miss because if they go after Gafford who made a lot of sense for them instead of facilitating the trade to the mavs they might still be playing right now. Going for Hayward just never made any sense based on their front court needs.

That is the crazy part, they screwed themselves trying to be cute on the trade market. What did they even get for handing Dallas a championship?

Definitely would not put Boston in that category. Their current GM has never tanked and have made aggressive moves to upgrade the roster.
He did good putting the finishing touches on but he inherited a roster from a pick hoarder and benefitted from having dry powder and 75% of the work already done for him.

Ant had the dumbest frustration foul to get his third. Just not sure he’s all the way ready.

At least it’s getting spicy.
