The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Yeah, just a lot of bad decisions by Embiid, like playing for Team USA.
He came back from the surgery last year to play in the playoffs and I think that may have been more damaging. Its also amazing how many season Philly punted with their BS. Waited out Simmons for a year then the Harden pause year. Finally land PG... and Embiid is ded.

Philly also messed up in the Hinkie transition real hard. So they wasted most of his healthy years and now they out of runway.

All along tho Embiid needed to be thinking about his body and longevity. Its amazing what Lebron does but its surprising the guys that don't max out their bodies with science and nutrition. I guess he made a billion dollars anyway but now I would be more concerned with getting around long term than trying to get back to ball. I think the best case is honestly a medical retirement that would remove him from the cap but he still gets teh monies.

He probably should have gotten fanatical about diet and taken every potential lb of pressure he could off his body but even then I think he maybe gets a year or two more max. Dude is cooked and is owed 250M over 4 years. Worst contract in NBA history unless there is a miracle.

Say they land #3 pick and offer Embiid and #3 for all our expiring salaries (Collins/Sexton/Clarkson)... you saying yes or no?
You absolutely take that.... especially if we end up at 1 or 2. We want to suck next year as well and then would only have 2 more years on Joel even if he never plays again. If that gets you Ace, Harper, and/or Flagg, you definitely take that.

They can’t get anywhere near close to assuring that they keep their pick at this stage so intentionally losing games makes no sense. They are just this ****ed.
Can they improve the chances of keeping their pick? If the answer is yes then you have to weigh that with continuing what they are doing now and finishing out of the playoffs (wouldn't even make the play in tourney) anyways.

They have been trying to win apparently and are 12th in the east lol. behind brooklyn and chicago. Might as well tank since not tanking isn't doing any good for anything.

I would describe as that they have just given up rather than that they are tanking for the reasons you just mentioned. I don’t think they can appreciably move down the standings, but there’s also no reason to jeopardize anyone’s health, either.

Meh, it’s already a miracle that Embiid lasted this long. His career was almost over before it started due to injury. I think it’s remarkable that he was able to be as good as he was/is for so long. So much blame being directed towards him as an individual but the reality is that his body just doesn’t comply and nobody should be surprised.

The Sixers didn’t do great building around him. Countless bad decisions and they also got unlucky and fell just short a couple times. Takes a lot of luck and a lot of good moves beyond getting the superstar to win a championship. Just didn’t work out of Embiid.

The Clips waived MarJohn Beauchamp, another former first round pick they and the Bucks don't think is a prospect. What's a little bit scary here is that he looked so much better than Cody playing in garbage time vs. the Jazz this season.

Been watching OKC-HOU on second screen.....Shai cooked his *** ofc, but Sheppard actually had a good game. I still believe in him.
