What's new

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Lakers is running a fast paced unpredictable offense, lebron shooting better 3s, luka down to 235 pounds from 255. 6 game winning streak. This is fun

Was listening to a podcast and they were talking about Lebron and how it's still weird to think of Lebron as a Laker even though Lebron has been on the Lakers for 7 years! That's the longest single team stint he has had since his original Cavs run.

His career has been insane. Never seen anything like it before and probably never see anything like it again in my lifetime

Gotta be rock bottom for the Mavericks - right? What else could go wrong here? Luka scores 150 tonight?

We'll see how Luka's career shakes out but this is an early contender for worst trade in NBA history.

Lol Mavs announced yesterday their season ticket prices for next season are gonna go up by around 9%.

That would be totally normal except you literally just pissed off the fanbase probably worse than any franchise ever has.

I feel bad for Kyrie, he was having a great year. I actually really enjoy watching Kyrie play. I feel bad for Mavs fans, it has to suck pretty bad to go from the conference finals and thinking you would be a perennial contender to not even making the playoffs the next year. I feel bad for our MIN pick, we really needed Dallas to be ahead of MIN in the standings.

Agreed.
And even worse, the NBA finals as well.
Not often you go from the nba finals with a young MVP level player to missing the playoffs and not having a young MVP level player and not even good assets for a rebuild either.

Text from my Mavs fan buddy - LOL. Hard to disagree.

"All Nico had to do was nothing. Just do nothing and we are a top 5 team with a chance to go back to the Finals. Instead he did all of this. Screwed us this year, next year, and long-term. It might be the worst trade in NBA history."

Ive read a comment about the new dallas owners wanting to move to las vegas. They want to build a casino next to it which they cant do in texas. And luka is in the middle of it. If they win a championship its gonna be very hard to move So they traded luka secretly. My question is why hard? Whos stopping them from moving?

Full theory is that they are trying to pass a bill in 2027 (I think) so that they get a permit to build an entertainment complex in Texas including casino's and other forms of entertainment. Moving their entire plan (including Mavs) to Vegas is the threat they use against local politicians to try and get that bill passed.

I dont know about the validity of that theory but what has been well documented is that Adelsons pumped at least $2M into a political action committee called Texas Sands that is lobbying to legalize gambling in Texas with that said entertainmanet area being their endgame.

every other team in the league and the NBA ORGANIZATION. Vegas is the number one market in the world for NBA expansion. it is estimated that new franchise fee for vegas will be 9 billion or more. The NBA wants a new team in that market so they can split 9 billion dollars. i do not believe an existing team has to pay that. this is why Dallas cannot just up and move to Vegas. this is also why i believe that rumor which started in Dallas to explain the Luka trade is BS. i think the GM for Dallas thinks Luka has a drinking problem and was not dedicated and made a horrible, horrible trade.

I believe you posted something similar earlier and Utah being towards the top of this list should honestly be investigated by the NBA.

It's basically saying we should have 9 to 10 more wins, which would put us at 8-10 in the tank race. That kind of feels about right. If we were playing this season straight we would be in that range.

It's definitely the worse trade in NBA history.
