He should be playing shooting guard. When Hay comes back he and Hay should be sharing ball-handle-N responsibilities. I don't care what position Burks plays really, as long as he gets time on the court over on-the-verge-of-retirement vets, though when Hayward comes back he's got a track record of screwing Burks, or Demarre, for someone who doesn't help the team win now, and doesn't matter in the future, but whom he feels some odd obligation to give minutes to.

played just as good since Mo went down, as the vet PGs. So if Burks is an average ball handler, over dribbler what

You're clueless. Burks' ball-handling is average AT BEST for any guard in this league. And your earlier post about coaching ball-handling shows just how clueless you are. Burks isn't 10 years old. He either has ball-handling skills by this point or he doesn't. Sure, he can tighten up his handle some and work on it but for the most part, if it's going to get better, it's going to be very marginally better.
 
Burks is not a point guard and trying to groom him into one is counterproductive. Sure, let him handle it here and there but NO CHANCE he is a point guard.

Besides having no feel for the position after an entire career of being a scorer, when he has tried playing point this season it's obvious he isn't skilled enough handling the ball to play at the different tempos a good PG plays at. The best PGs dictate and play at whatever tempo they please, the poor ones get sped up easily. It's not his fault he can't do it, it's Ty the buffoon's for thinking he can develop him into one.

Burks has a solid future as a slasher and two-guard in the league. Lets let him grow into it by getting Marvin and Foye out of the rotation or, preferably, out of town! That way we can just rotate Hayward, Carroll and Burks on the wings.

What in the HECK do you think Williams and Foye offer us long term? Foye is an abysmal defender, and a liability. I'm still confident Hayward's 3-pt shooting percentage will continue to increase as he gets stronger with age and weight training and more acclimated to the game. Williams is as underwhelming as any player with all the physical tools and skills he possesses that I can remember. He hasn't put it together in terms of consistency in 8 years in the league, what does that tell you?

He is the only player on the team who can hit a 3, Hayward has been on the up and up though so we will see on him ... Foye doesn't need to be the focal point of the offense but we need a shooter out on the court. Marvin is a very good defender and functional spot up shooter, he is just getting paid to much and was drafted to high.

Okay, fine. For this season sure keep them around. But Burks was our lotto pick, and shouldn't be sacrificed for a quick fix like both those guys who are severely limited in various aspects of the game. The point of my original post in this thread is that Burks is not a point guard, and in the big picture has the most potential as a two-guard. The only way we'll find out if he can succeed as a two-guard is if he's on the court in that spot. Not just on the court to play point because of injuries or lack of actual point guards.

burks is also 2 inches taller with or without shoes, i initially cited the standing reach though because john wall has basically a 6 '10 wingspan at 6'3" (without shoes)

Alec Burks is athletic, but he is not elite like some people think.

Also measurables sometimes dont = in game athleticism. Case in point the Dwight Howard Derek Favors comparison. Apparently Favors has the exact same length, vertical, etc ... as Howard but I have yet to see him pull off 1/10 of the athletic stuff Howard did in Orlando.
 
Burks biggest problem right now is no close to mid range game (3' to 10)'. If he can't get all the way to the rim he usually ends up shooting some cockeyed floater which is not an easy shot running at full speed. Looking at his shooting numbers for this range (3-10'):

Last year: 24% (18 for 73)
This year: 26% (10 for 38)

Quite horrible, especially considering this is the lion's share of his shot attempts. He does get fouled a lot, but not enough to make up for that ghastly percentage. He needs to either work on some sort of floater or start getting the low post defenders to commit and pass the ball.
