What's new

The *official* Election Day Game Thread!

Good news is (well sad news actually) is that in the state of Utah our votes don't matter.

The religious majority in our state will always vote for the republican even if he is a serial adulterer, sleeps with pornstars, lies about everything, steals from charities, and creates fake universities. Dat moral integrity doe.

I'm sure Captain Moroni would be so proud of who his people are comparing him to.

They get hung up, generally, on the standard religious hard-stops: abortion and gay rights. To a lesser degree things like legalization of weed, taxes, guns, but really those other 2 are the biggies. They have been fully indoctrinated that those 2 things will destroy the mythical "family unit" of a white dad, white Mom, and 2.4 children. Any bogeyman that hints at those "dangers" can only be of Satan and needs to be fought against at all costs. Add into the mix the whole "why should I pay for anyone else's health care" specter, and the vague "socialism is the debil!" (said in the voice of mama from the water boy), and they will blindly follow anyone that pushes those buttons, regardless of literally anything else that candidate may have done or may stand for. Talk about indoctrinated and brain-washed.

Jesus H Christ. Spot on.

I think you are being a bit dramatic. I think it is absolutely going to be a disaster. But I don't see any danger, just a bunch of grandstanding, facebook **** talking, and lawyering.
I hope you are right and I feel the same way.
I did see a poll saying that 77% of Americans think there will be violence due to the election.

I wonder if it would be the same if it were Biden vs a non trump republican.

Just went and voted. Took 5 minutes in and out. Went Biden and hope he can hold on for 4 years and Kamala can be buried with real candidates in 2024.
I know that must have been hard to vote for someone who sucks but I think you did the right thing for whatever that's worth.
This lesser of two evils **** needs to end though.

I feel confident in saying that I won't be voting in the next election or if by some chance I do vote I will just throw it at a non repub or Dem. Unless one of those 2 parties presents someone really good. I won't hold my breath

I just saw stores being boarded up in areas that typically don’t worry about that kind of thing. I am going to hang out at home the next couple days... not that there is anywhere to go. We will see what happens as results start piling up but it seems like I was prolly over reacting. 2020 has me on high alert.

This is my prediction. I think Biden will win comfortably in the mid 300s. I could see Ohio and Florida switching in my map. But I think Trump fatigue and covid are more than enough for Biden to win and win with a mandate to change completely the course our country is going in. I'd love to see Ohio, Florida, and Texas go blue in a wipeout we haven't seen since the 1980s. But I think Texas is still another cycle or two away from being reliably blue.

Today, I was in Utah County and wondering if I made the right choice in voting for Biden. Then I saw a "Trump 2020: **** your Feelings" flag on the back of a jacked up truck and thought, "Damn, I should've voted for Trump." I love how those flags are so persuasive with their ideas and policies.

My SIL and her fiance were up from AZ, he's a big Trumper, they drove 12 hours this morning to get home to beat the riots when Trump wins. Or that was his reasoning at least. They are also barely functioning morons.

Ha ha there is a house a block down that has that sign but they put tape over the **** in order to keep pretending Trump is a friend of the religious.

I'm more of a fully functional spaz.

I've never seen violence on election night before. I hope that continues.

And the Trump paraphernalia like the huge flags and flags that look a lot like U.S. flags but say Trump or whatever. It's so ****ing gaudy. It's more over the top than Tammy Faye Bakker's makeup.

That’s pretty optimistic, imo.

I’ll be surprised if Biden takes Florida, Georgia, NC, and Pennsylvania.

In his last days of campaigning, Trump has essentially admitted that he does not expect to win without going to court. “As soon as that election is over,” he told reporters over the weekend, “we’re going in with our lawyers.”

Trailing consistently in the polls, Trump in that moment said out loud what other Republicans have preferred to say quietly, which is that his best chance of holding onto power at this point may rest in a scorched-earth campaign to disqualify as many votes as possible for his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden.

After months of claiming that any election outcome other than a victory for him would have to have been “rigged,” the president used his final days on the campaign trail to cast doubt on the very process of tabulating the count, suggesting without any evidence that any votes counted after Tuesday, no matter how legal, must be suspect.

Both sides expect Trump and his allies to try again to disqualify late-arriving ballots in the emerging center of the legal fight, Pennsylvania, after the state’s high court rejected a previous attempt and the Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal.

The scale of the Republican effort is beyond any that longtime civil rights lawyers said they could recall, and they, along with lawyers for the Democrats, said they were ready to meet Trump’s lawyers in court.

“This is the most blatant, open attempt at mass disenfranchisement of voters that I’ve ever witnessed,” said Dale Ho, the director of the Voting Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union, which has litigated several major cases this year.

It is. But I think those states have the demographics to make Biden very competitive. Large turnout plus covid and Trump exhaustion push Biden over the top. Although, out of all those states Florida is the one I’m least confident about. Pennsylvania is in the bag for Biden.
