The official get rid of Shelvin "has no" Mack thread.

After the opener against Portland, Cappy pulled an overreaction and suggested DL trade Mack to save Quin from overplaying him. Still have mixed feelings about that. I actually like him as a player, and believe he can help in winning games. However, I feel Quin should have a shorter leash with Mack, and I also see a problem with some of the lineups he has Mack in.

Let's wait and see how Quin uses him after Hayward gets back. Dumping him for a 2nd would look really dumb if Hill or Exum were to come up injured.

Also, @freshprince, the homophobe thing is kinda played. Time to get a new shtick.

I think haywards return will most likely affect Ingles minutes over Mack. Which is a funny cos I've liked Jinglin Joe a lot more than Mack so far. It would be interesting to see how Mack and Exum would be used with burks available.

Only thing that really frustrates me about him are the bad passes in the lane.

Most of his shots have been pretty good. Its not like he is chucking.

Mack was a mixed bag tonight - some good stuff. Yeah Walker scored 21 but it took 20 shots to do it.

Missing the other GH big time though

Move Johnson or Hood to the bench when Hayward returns and Mack should start to settle in and defer more to Hayward, Hood, Johnson, and Hill

Mack isn't really a player that can defer. He's useless without the ball and isn't a ball mover either. His only skill is creating off the dribble, but when he's playing with guys that are better than him at that there's no point. He should only play when we don't have enough offensive punch. Otherwise it should be Neto or Exum, both of whom are significantly better support players.

No, he actually plays alright with the starters. His problem is when he has to be the scoring punch in lineups without good players.

Everyone does well with the starters. I think his main problem is that he's a 2nd/3rd caliber PG that needs the ball. That's fine, but he needs to be put on a leash. It's ridiculous to have him taking away possessions from better players with no accountability. We need to see him for what he is. There are many rotations in the NBA that he would not make. He's not a guy that has to play.
 
Mack isn't a good point guard. As in he doesn't set up his teammates. He's a aggressive ball player who plays too fast. Neto should be given a chance to play. I feel like he's better with running the offense.

Except we have a solid sample size from last year that says Neto sucks way worse than Mack and he doesnt even set his teammates for him being a supposedly superior passer because his own individual offensive game is so inept.
 
Mack has talent but is inconsistent, and makes too many turnovers. I don't like his defense much either.

He's annoying in starting role more than anything. He's not a bad bench player.

Preferably the third point or when the Jazz play two PGs. Dante already is the better player and should be moved ahead of Mack, but the Jazz are intentionally bringing Dante along slowly. If we had Hill last night, we would've won handily and even without him could still have won. Our bench just didn't deliver. When we're fully healthy with Burks and Diaw that won't happen.
