What's new

The official Lakers_Slapper, game thread predictions VS. The Lakers.

Kanter has not shown me he can play the stretch 4 at all. I mean I am still ok with a small deal and have him come off the bench, but he would not sign on for that. I am sure someone else will take a chance on him and pay him. I though we should have tried to move him last year, probably to late to get a decent return now.

Wouldn't have received anything more than a 2nd for him last season. Was he more valuable than a guy like Hawes? No one was dealing 1st rounders.

With the pending changes to the lottery format lottery picks become even more valuable...

I don't know. Third year guy under a terrible coach who showed some flashes of being good at one time. I think we could have swayed someone to give us more than a second. Maybe not a first, but maybe another maligned player who someone felt they missed on, like say Otto or mclemore. Would have given us another 4 years to work with a young player.

Third year guy who was seen as one of the poorest defenders in the league and a primary reason for all the losing (e.g his record as a starter). Sure, he was a former #3 pick. Evan Turner was also a former high pick and only fetched a 2nd-rounder. I think best case would have been an expiring and a late 1st from a contender looking for depth.

I think it's early to shop Kanter. He wasn't having too bad of a game today actually. He almost had double double by halftime. Lets see how he performs in the first 20-30 games before we decide we don't want him.

Maybe a team will have an injury or two and be in need of a player like Kanter. I'm sure DL would consider a trade if it was good enough.

Not a big enes fan, but we would have got more for him than a second. We keep him but I've never believed he was a stretch four. I have been encouraged by his passing and defensive effort. He may or may not get the big offer this offseason. At very least I think he is a great 3rd big.

Why's everyone being all downer? The Kanter situation will resolve itself however it's supposed to. Whatever.

The team looks pretty all right. Neat.

I've never been more excited as a Jazz fan than this year, at least not in the past 10 years or so.

There are so many players who I have a huge interest in their development: Gobert, Exum, Hood, Booker, Burke, and even the "old" guard of Favors/Hayward/Burks/Kanter. Damn near every guy on the court feels like they can be a very solid player in this league, though I know they all won't.

I know this is just pre-season kool aid, but damnit, it's fun while it's here.

And I don't care if it's pre-season or not, mudholing the Lakers is always great to see.

Ugh, people being down after tonight is just irritating. Enjoy yourselves for ****s sake.

Guys remember when we paid the Nuggets pennies to buy their pick off of them-- and drafted Gobert with it?

Holy **** Dennis Lindsey.

Getting Gobert and Hood for absolutely nothing was just absolutely shrewd dealing from Lindsey.

I'd like to hear a candid conversation between DL and Snyder about Evans. I just don't see where he fits on the team especially with guys like Cooley and Motum playing fairly well. Evans dunks and reads to the kids on off days but he doesn't really provide much else.

You can do infinitely worse for an out-of-regular-rotation player. That's what he and Ronnie Price are, and they're good to have, as long as you only need them in a pinch.

Gobert to Hayward

Is Kanter really that bad, or is Jazzfanz up to the usual "gotta find a player on the team to hate." trend?

Just going on record as still being firmly ON the Kanter bandwagon. His touch seems a little off at the moment, and if you've ever listened to boler and harpring you KNOW he's got mad touch. Still very high hopes for this season.

I looooooved that bank shot by Favors at the end of the 1st quarter.

And what an Alley Hoop dunk by Gobert and that lob by Exum! Maaan they tried to contest it, but their planes were just not made for that kind of altitude. Rudy became a fudging monster!

That corner corner 3 by Hayward, that's the kind of shot he should stick to more than off-drible mid-range game, while not quitting the mid-range game.

I really liked QS finally playing Motum-Cooley-Felix enough to give them the chance to show what they've got.

We must remember that this is preseason fire and hunger from a bunch of young energetic players that are hungry to do something. Let us hope this hunger stays until the end.

Is Ian Clark guaranteed? I like Murry a lot better. I trust Quin is going to evaluate properly but I'm nervous Murry will get cut and Clark and/or Jones retained because the Jazz have always had at least one guy on the team I do not want.
TM23 travels the court with some nice level of pace. I think he is a keeper.
