The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

I think you could do a jazzfanz poll and the significance is exactly the same.

Your thoughts are dumb. A 270,000 respondent poll is orders of magnitude more statistically representative of the american population than a jazzfanz poll would be unless of course the jazzfanz poll was just trying to represent the jazzfanz population.

And 270,000 is extremely insignificant compared to the US political population. You're proving my point. It's fluff. It's pointless.

It's more than you think. With a sample size that large for the American population of 327 million, you'd be 95% confident that the result is within, plus or minus, .189 percent.

The state results, depending on the number of observations for each in relation to their population, may be more accurate or may be less. The smaller states probably have a wider uncertainty interval

Exactly. It's pretty pointless and unsubstantial. I agree.
Last week the survey was interesting to some because Trump was down by three in Utah! As of a few days ago he’s up by four! It’s too early to matter either way so everyone can relax. Furthermore, the survey is about job approval, not how people will vote. In the actual election, the vast majority of Republicans will vote Republican, and Trump will easily win Utah.

138,000,000 voted
270,000 poll

That is basically a tenth of a percent of voters.

If it was an actual random poll. When a poll is self-selected its results are useless.

I could do without your hyperbolic word choice. "useless" lol. I already stated as much in a different post. Please keep up.

You guys are silly. Going to such lengths to discredit a poll.

Jesus LOL. I already told you how accurate a poll with that sample size is likely to be.

If you don't understand, just say so bro. This is a safe space. I took a statistics class, once, three years ago. I guess I'm lucky to remember a little bit, but it's totally reasonable for you to completely have no understanding of these concepts at all and yet keep posting about it.

Did you pass?

Lol

You can either keep your mouth shut and everyone will assume that you don’t understand basic statistics.

Or

You can open your mouth and confirm everyone’s suspicion.

Clearly, some of you have never taken like a basic high or college school statistics class. Some of you don’t understand how polling is done. @Safetydan has done a pretty good job summarizing how polling is done and it’s accuracy. Just because it shows data you disagree with doesn’t mean it’s an inaccurate poll. Just because you don’t understand basic statistics doesn’t mean you can’t learn it.

Do you doubt the efficacy of medicine that passes trials? Or do we need to test it on every single person before we believe it works?
YES! I doubt very much the efficacy of a large amount of our medications on the market. I’m going to post about it in that science thread, or whatever it was, but it’s taken a week or more thus far.

Haha I actually hesitated to use a pharmaceutical comparison, but the point stands. You wouldn't have a standard of requiring every patient take a particular drug before you understood whether it works, just a necessarily large sample size.
