While I'm not a legal expert, I know that reporting what another person said is evidence that they it, allowed in any court I can think of.

Does nobody else remember that this is exactly what Michael Cohen said Trump does? He talks like a cheap movie mafia don, always speaking in "code," never actually saying what he wants, but people know anyway, but that way he has deniability.
