The *OFFICIAL* Russia Is About To Invade Ukraine Thread

What a “subtle” dog whistle fraulein owens!

Soros is constantly called a globalist. Now Zelensky. What do those two have in common???

Why is the American right rooting for Putin and against Zelensky and the west???

So I need to say that I was wrong. I expected the Russian war machine to get some traction and start taking cities, including the capital.

I think both Ukrainian resistance has been more effective and tenacious than expected, but Russian military incompetence, poor training, poor discipline, poor support, poor material readiness, poor field repair, poor planning, and absolutely abysmal self assessment has provided an actual opportunity for Ukraine to end this without the government falling.

With the disparity in numbers and military spending that's completely insane. I get that offensive military action is harder than defensive military action (always a little bonus multiplier when you're defending you home, your family, you country and responding to atrocities the enemy is committing against you) but Russia should have, on paper, done MUCH better at achieving their objectives than they have been.

Lol. Things appear to be going well.

I can't say how reassured I am that the first war of conquest by a major world power since WWII is not going well.

I hope this is a lesson for all the other nations out their eyeing their neighbors lands.

It’s almost like Russia is a corrupt mafia state where personal grift has superseded the needs of the state and is led by an autocrat who isn’t as smart or talented as he was made out to be by the former president of the United States. Their defense spending should’ve made rolling Ukraine easy. But when you’re a mafia state, a kleptocracy and everyone is raiding the state’s budget, expect all that defense spending to be funneled into shell companies instead of, you know, the defense forces. It’s not to take anything away from Ukraine. And we’re definitely not out of the woods yet. But this should be a lesson for everyone about the risks of indulging in corruption. Putin can’t trust anyone in government because everyone has been stealing from the government for decades.

But at least he still has chemical and nuclear weapons to make things worse in an attempt to draw NATO into the fight. Which brings up another issue, how about president Biden? He’s threaded this needle perfectly. He’s been calling Russia’s crap out since this began. He’s rallied NATO and the west. He’s provided Ukraine with the means to protect itself all while refusing to fall into Putin’s traps of making this about the west. I think this administration deserves a lot of credit. We all know the former guy wouldn’t have helped Zelensky. Not sure if Obama could’ve threaded this needle. Not sure if the hawks in the Bush administration could’ve resisted to not make this about regime change in Russia. So far the west has largely let Putin hang himself with a noose of his own making.

Good point that Biden has resisted being the White Knight of Democracy and just let this play out as Putin has fallen flat on his face. I agree that there may not have been another administration that could have resisted scoring war hero points on this thing, while actually making everything much worse.

Part of the problem with the Russian military is that it's weak BY DESIGN. See, Putin doesn't come from a military background, so he doesn't trust them, so he purposefully gets rid of any commanders who get too much power or popularity, and puts in an intelligence guy. Also, unless a strongman has his military (normally by coming up thru them and developing relationships) there is no great danger to them than a strong charismatic general.

That's basically what JFK did during the Cuban Missle Crisis, didn't overreact. Smartest thing he could have done, and, yes, it seems like Biden is running that playbook perfectly.

First, Russia had to go into Ukraine because Nazis and NATO and Trump thought it was a savvy move.
Then, Russia had to go into Ukraine because Jewish Zelensky and Jews I mean Globalists.
Now, Russia had to go into Ukraine cuz Zelensky is training antifa/BLM and bioweapons or something something.

You need to hate fellow Americans, don't you understand? Putin isn't that bad of a guy. Has he ever called you racist or tried to cancel you? Did he ever make you wear a mask or learn about slavery in school? The real enemy is Zelensky, or Biden, Globalists, or NATO, or neo cons or something something. All I know is that I'm supposed to be angry!!!

Ya it seems like the republican platform right now is Hate the Dems and Fear what the Dems are doing to our country! Fear and Hate

Any recent updates with your perspective on the situation overall?
Since someone asked:

I've sort of started a charity by accident. Here's the most recent update from Wednesday I sent out to supporters.

Who you've been helping in Ukraine

Good morning to all our recent contributors,

We've had a busy few days locating and finding new families that urgently need relief, and I wanted to write and update you on what we've been doing this week.

Since our last update on Sunday evening we've sent out a little more than $6,000 directly to families and local community leaders. This brings our total over the last 72 hours to more than $11,000 in direct distributions. We're working hard to consistently turn your donations into food, housing, medical supplies for Ukrainians within 24-48 hours.

The hardest hit city on the ground in recent days has been Mariupol. The city has been encircled by invading forces, and citizens have been unable to consistently leave the city as humanitarian corridors have come under attack. One of the more tragic consequences of this situation is that communication into the city is painfully difficult. Even Ukrainians with family members in Mariupol have reported periods of no contact that can last days. For that reason getting aid to families inside Mariupol, or recently escaped from Mariupol, has been our highest priority.

Just yesterday we started having success in this area: making contact and giving direct aid to four families - including a single mother with four children and a father who was able to leave the city with his elderly mother and his daughter.

We've also continued supporting the construction of field hospitals near Kyiv, distribution of medicines in war zones, the orphanage system near Odessa, and business owners who are using their facilities to provide food and shelter to citizens that recently lost their homes.

We've attached photos of some of the families you've helped, and the food and medicine you've purchased to this email so that you can get a sense of how much this means. None of these people chose this war. It happened to them. And you're helping extend a lifeline when they need it.

I've also attached a sample of the kinds of conversations I have every day, after we've been able to find families and get them money they need to keep a roof over their head and feed and their children. Irina, whose father and husband are currently fighting the war, and who needed support while she and her mom have closed their florist shop due to shelling, was astonished that we were able to get money directly into her bank account in under an hour. Her response: "God bless you!!! We are grateful to you without limits ... To tears..."

This is just one example, but it's an extremely common response. Many people we've spoken to have asked how they can pay these funds back or asked if they can host their American donors for an evening in their homes after the war is over. These families don't take it for granted. Many view your support as answer to their prayers.

All of this happens because of people like you. So from us to you, thank you for your continued generosity.

One measure of our success: when we started this project we were spending a lot of time scouring the country looking for people we could help. Now, a few weeks in, families in Ukraine are starting to find us. Word is spreading among families from Odessa, Izmail, and Kharkiv that this kind of direct aid exists; and I'm starting to get messages asking how people can "apply to our organization" for assistance. They are surprised to find out the "organization" is two guys with laptops and social media accounts. This is the kind of personal human help they need, but haven't been able to access locally.

The need for more aid is huge. And we're relying on support from you and your connections to keep it going. Please consider continuing your support and telling your friends and family about this project. As always, we accept donations through Venmo @Adam-Romney-2 and through PayPal at adam.romney@gmail.com. And I'm willing to talk to anyone about this project at any time. My personal cell phone is (602) 481-0571. I'm available day and night.

Thank you. Truly, from the bottom of my heart. You all are helping make one of the worst human tragedies in recent memory at least a little more bearable for the people it hurts the most. Ukraine is a wonderful place, and it will be again soon.

Jazzfanz will only let me attach 10 files, but you get the gist.

If anyone is looking for how to get aid to individuals on the ground, I'm in the process of setting up a California non-profit, but I'm still pushing money out through wire transfers as fast as I can find people. I'd love to have you on board.

Ya it seems like the republican platform right now is Hate the Dems and Fear what the Dems are doing to our country! Fear and Hate
Fear and hate are powerful motivators. They unite (mob mentality), they motivate to action, after all they are usually centered around a primal need to protect oneself and one's "clan", so to speak. Flight or fight kicks in and if enough of them opt to fight, well most of the rest will join in too. And the demagogues that are good at tapping into that fear and hatred have committed most of the most atrocious acts in the history of mankind.

And to be fair, the democrats sure do talk a lot of hatred and fear about the republicans as well. Its a **** show all around
