whoa...
Be honest, do you get your info from RT?
So I work for a living, catch the news while driving usually. As things stand right now I get in to a computer almost every day at some point. I have not been reading the Russian news directly for a while.
The facts on the shelling a couple of days ago are, apparently, being disputed. It is not even claimed that the shelling originated from weapons inside Russian territory, so the US Embassy is distorting the report in alleging is was "Russian Shelling".
Last Summer i posted a thread in here with news items including Russian military movements, and Ukranian military movements, which included some hothead, probably rogue, Ukranian commander saying they were going to move into the Donbas and clear the place out. I think Zelensky is not on board with that, and is seeking peaceful resolutions rahter than military actions.
I think our imbecile-in-chief has an axe to grind with Zelensky and that there are larger interests in taking Putin out somehow.
If you listen to Western news, the fact that we made an agreement with Russia during Gorbachev's days concerning the independence of Eastern European nations. We agreed or promised thart NATO would not move "one inch" into those countries. That is the basis of Putin's objections to our continuing NATO expansions and placements of troops in places that continue to violate that agreement.
Putin has kicked out many Western-based business interests, saying you can't do business in Russia if you don't fundamentally have Russian loyalties. Jon Huntsman Jr. got kicked out, and then Trump made his Ambassador.
Pretty hard on me to stomach the ignorance of people like Sean Hannity and Mark Levin concerning Russia. Russia is not fundamentally a "Western" natrion, has no legal foundation like the Constitution or Magna Carta or common law. There is little to hope for in limiting government or dictators, even fairly popular leaders like Putin whose power grabs can be mere expedients of the moment. I could hardly make Putin, or Xi so far as that goes, much worse than Hillary Clinton or Obama or Biden or any contemporary globalist.
Putin is making his stand as a Russian nationalist concerned with Russian security and independence. He has been for many years now, objecting to NATO aggression into the former occupied territories of Eastern Europe. It is true that people within those areas have been favorable to stronger ties, business and military, but it is not really all that clear cut. Many people in those areas are more comfortable with Russian ties. Even Germany may cut out of NATO and ally instead with Russia. It's a matter of local business interests, in part, and part in local cultural ties.
Zelensky has been trying to clean up Ukraine, so far as "corruption" in government goes, but he has factions that are pro-Russian and also pro-Western. I favor an independent Ukraine with the hope for cleaning up the government corruption. Joe Biden favors getting rid of Zelensky and collecting payola from the corrupt Western-allied interests including the oil and gas interests.
Fiona Hill is a shameless globalist and a warmonger.
I don't think Biden is up to doing a war with anyone, but he's not his own man either.
NATO doesn't need Ukraine, and Ukraine doesn't need NATO. Stay out of Ukraine.
We have military bases in places that are no more secure than Russian's bases on the Black Sea, But the Russian bases on the Black Sea are far more important to Russia. Russia's bases in Syria are an attempt to alleviate that vulnerability.
We should honor our 1990s agreements with Russia. Perhaps we should invite Russia to join NATO. NATO is so damn irrelevant today.
