I also snagged Bynum with the last pick of my fantasy draft. Take THAT Scootsy!
Reasons to be excited and have hope:
1. This is the C5s team now
2. Multiple picks in 2014, 2017 and 2nd rounders
3. Redone arena and new jumbotron
4. Sloan is a senior basketball advisor. Show that either Corbin or ownership (or both) knows help is needed on the coaching front
5. Malone is working with the bigs
6. Killer 2013 draft. Finally landed that PG we needed
7. 3 expiring contracts worth 24 million that we can apply towards our core in 2014
8. No Big Al and no Millsap
9. An amazing GM in Lindsey who is not afraid to be patient or aggressive when needed. He has vision and can keep sight of where we want to get to. I think he walks on water
10. An owner more willing to open up the purse strings
11. Lakers got rejected and lost some face publicly. Feels good
As long as our young guys are showing off the future, we should be fine.Yup. We've been saying this for years.
The Jazz will lose a ton of games, but I bet attendance is just as good and they sell more merchandise than they did last year.
All of our young players can average 14 - 16 pts. per game quite easily depending on how shots are distributed. Anyone of them can score 25 or even 30 on a given night.
Also, I think Burke is going to be better in this league than some people were expecting. People were looking for things to nitpick with him about, but he's a very determined and skilled PG. I think he can put up 15/8 without too much trouble. If he really went after it, he could put up 18/10 (DWill numbers). I see him hitting 3 3s per game just on simple pull-ups.
FYI, I think trading Favors and our own pick would get us into the top 5 of the 2014 draft. Not that I'm in a hurry to do it, but lets see what Gobert's potential looks like on both sides. Gobert / Kanter might be enough in the front court if we have Jabari Parker. We might also be able to pick up WCS, Isaiah Austin or Aaron Harrison with Golden State's pick.
I think Burke will be better than most people were expecting, too. But three 3s per game? Not even Stephen Curry does that. Hell, I don't think anyone in the history of the game has done that.

Steph Curry averaged 3.5 3-pt. makes on about 8 attempts last year. But yeah, that's a lot.
Maybe Burke gets 2 makes on 5 attempts.
Foye averaged 2.2 makes on 5.3 attempts last season.
Two makes seems fair.
Kanter + Jabari + Burke + Hayward/Burks should be enough offense. Then mix in Favors / Gobert for defense and rebounding.
We really need one of the top 6 RSCI players among incoming freshmen - https://www.draftexpress.com/RSCI/2013/ - then we're a serious load.
I just have to say publicly that I have really come to enjoy and respect Catchall's takes/posts. Always solid.
go on..I'm starting to think that Burke/Hayward/Parker/Kanter/Favors (or Gobert) is achievable with Burks and maybe a guy like Isaiah Austin off the bench to mix things up. That team would have the talent to make the Finals. Then it's just a matter of coaching.
Cannot wait for game 1.. and I haven't really been able to say that, with intellectual honesty, for a long time.
