First. Just want to say the rodent is dumb. Had to get that out of the way.

Second. Burks wasn't right physically he was less aggressive because of this. He looked to drive less and shot more jumpers then he looked to drive and was getting to the line less.

Batman missed this because rodent brains are small. Not really his fault I guess.

I'm pretty drunk on Rodney Hood Kool-Aid right now, but I would start Rodney and bring Alec off the bench. Rodney spaces the floor better and has a mid-range game. I think Alec could come off the bench and draw fouls and get to the line. We need another shooter off the bench to space with Alec or the lane will get pretty tight.

To me you replace some of Trey Burke's really inefficient possessions with Alec's slight better possession is a win. And Burks provides better defense and rebounding.

This. If anyone should be sweating their job, once Alec returns, it's Trey. Alec will take some of his minutes, and hopefully a healthy handful of his shots.

#Bromance!!!!!!

We need another option. Yes, but as 6th man. I can see him with a solid backup PG being the "muscle" of the 2nd unit, as it were.

I would love for him to come off the bench with Burke. Thats a really solid second team.

I hope sitting on the bench most of the year watching the new system at work will help him totally "buy in" and see how he can play within it. He's an athletic cutter - could be a great use for him in the system.

Hood has really made a case for being a go-to shooter. IMO, we'll need Alec's ability to get to the rim - and the line.

I think he fits with the second unit, but I don't see how he fits with the second unit with Trey slowing it down, pounding the floor and chucking.

Trey is not a finished product, so maybe things will work out....

Alec will be fine. As others have already mentioned, his being so involved with everything during his rehab bodes well for his future with the team.

Does Alec have physical tools and skill... yes. Has he improved his jumper... yes. What does he have to work on then? Getting familiar and comfortable with the new offense. The fact that he is sitting there and studying, observing, and traveling with the team tells me he gets that and it will be better.

If Alec takes his 3 point shooting from this year and combines it with his finishing around the basket percentages from last year (which may have been inhibited by a shoulder injury) he is a pretty damn good player. He will be more decisive next year after watching things and seeing what works. That automatic split second is really important.

Also, he has pretty good length to allow the switching which has been so effective. He is a good on ball defender. He can now jump the passing lanes with Favs and Gobert behind him. It is going to be ugly next year for other teams and Alec will be a big part of that.

I also noticed last night we went with 4 wings and gobert at one point. I am salivating a bit thinking about a lineup of Exum, Burks, Hood, Hayward, and Gobert/Favors. It is good times in Jazz land... get you some Kool aid bros.

I've been drunk on the Jazz Kool-Aid since the All-Star break.

Ultimately it will come down to what role he is trying to fit into. I think Hood is showing he is a great fit with the starting lineup and should be the starter next year. As a starter with this group, I don't think he is an ideal fit, but off the bench he is a perfect fit. If he embraces that role as 6th man he could be a perfect fit for this team to provide consistent scoring off the bench.

I hope Alec considers Hood a true rival and threat to his manhood and responds in kind. Those 2 battling for PT could be the best thing that happens to us next season.

But IMO Hood is a better defender already. Although, full disclosure, that is a pretty subjective point since we haven't really seen Burks this season and we have all been excited about Hood's performance.

He is the better defender. Burks is a chalk outline when he faces screens.

I love Burks and have a LOT of faith in Quin Snyder figuring out how to develop Burks and best utilize him without disrupting the rest of the team's chemistry. It's clear he's a part of the team moving forward. Looking forward to what new things he brings to the bench unit next season.

Honestly, I thought Trey played best with Alec. I'd love to see those 2 come off the bench!
