Will Alec Burks fit into this team and system next year?

I think Burks will primarily be useful just because he'll cut down the amount of time we see Exum/Burke backcourts play together.

Who on the team is more athletic than Burks? Hood is a solid player with a great shot. That screams 'bench specialist'. Sure, he's gonna be a really good one, but Alec is one of the only players that can go get a bucket and nobody can do anything about it. As long as Hayward can hit the 3 and Burks can hit it enough, than there's no reason for Hood to start.

My concern about Burks as a bench guy, and this might just be because he was trying to learn a new offensive system, is that he was pretty terrible as the 1st option scorer in the 2nd unit. His efficiency was way down in this role for what ever reason and he played much better when playing with the starters. Not sure Burks is the offensive stud we all think he is. he's gotta get more efficient when he's the #1 offensive guy on the floor. He's got to get to 2013-14 Ginobili status.

Well, you have to look at personnel. Who was he playing with in that 2nd unit? You can't have just 1 or 2 scorers on the floor. That's pretty easy to defend.
I do think the Trey/Alec pairing will be a disaster. Both need the ball in their hands. For that reason, I think Trey is probably gone by the next trading deadline. Alec and Gordon can both initiate plays. So can Dante and Hood.

If Burks starts, I can see him coming out at the 6 min mark. That's actually what Quin settled on after experimenting with Hayward coming out first. Then Alec comes back in after the quarter break when Hayward sits.

Right now the starting PG doesn't score, the back-up PG is inconsistent and often inefficient, and the lefty SGs can shoot but not necessarily create shots. Alec makes up for a lot of that and will fit in nicely with the group. Not many teams have one guy who can create their own shot and with Burks, Gordon, and Burke, Utah will have potentially three at three different positions.

Good God Burks has to get back soon and there's no two way's about it - when Ingles and Millsap are on the floor at the same time you might as well get a bite to eat because best case scenario The Jazz hold serve.

No brainer. This team's Achilles heel is it's inability to score. Burks is a scorer and he can get buckets in a variety of ways. Not only does he fit, but they need him.

A developed Hood/Hayward combo combined with an emerging Exum (assuming he gets his offense going at some point, which I think he will) will be a formidable combination. I see how Burks could at times fit in, but only as the 6th man, but not alongside Burke I fear. They both need the ball to excel and I think they would clash too much. But hopefully he can shore up a weaker bench as our starting 5 has the potential to be generational next season.

All reports are that Alec has spent a lot of time in film sessions and studying the play book and rehabing. I expect him to be fully up to date on this teams plays and D.
