The return of the backup PGs

The season is still early but I think this has been one of the bigger differences so far. For a long time the Jazz got nothing out of their backup PG spot. But this year, the backup PGs have already been instrumental in atleast 3-4 wins. They have to keep this up now. My trust in Watson is building up. He is a veteran and I think getting more and more comfortable with the system will only help him and also Elson.

If we have to beat the Fakers in the playoffs we need the bench in top form, all the help they can give. You hope Okur's return doesnt mess up the chemistry a whole lot but rather gives us more firepower off the bench.

Watson has been huge as of late. I don't really agree in small ball with Price and Watson out there though.

are you kidding? price and watson being on the floor together, those two seem to have insane chemistry, and have been huge for us in almost every game

honestly its still early in the season but they reminded me of eisly and anderson. i could be wrong since it so long ago and i was a teenager then. so my memory might be fuzy. but to me those always brought energy of the bench

....they both enjoy pressuring the ball....and since SLoan usually teams them with the big guys and CJ Miles it doesn't seem to hurt us in any other areas! Opposing ball handlers hate it when they get ball denied or pressured when they're bringing the ball up court! I know I did when I use to play!

I love when Watson/Price are on the floor together. They pressure the ball, disrupt the opposing teams offense and force turnovers. They also bring in some much needed energy which I feell the first team lacks.

In principle I know what your saying but they are the defensive spark that is the reason the bench has been so instrumental as of late and I'd say go with it until they give a reason not too. Also much to my surprise and pleasure coach Sloan (as demonstrated last night) doesn't have to stick to it, he yanked price fairly quick in that 4th and left Watson out there as he was playing a bit better and earlier in the year coach Sloan has took out Watson and left in Price. He will put either one next to DWill depending on who's playing better or if neither seem to have it (rare lately) we've seen him put CJ and AK out and go big at the wings.

When Memo gets back it will be curious as to what happens, hopefully they bring him along slowly maybe at the very end of the first to get his lungs burning for a min. then get the break between qtrs and then play maybe a 4-8min burn depending on conditioning and how well he's playing and then repeat in the 2nd half and then increasing time as the season goes and as his play dictates.

I see Hayward and Evans loosing what little time their getting and then Fess or Elson (one not both) losing their minutes and then Fess and Elson hopefully depending on matchups or who seems to be practing/playing better still gets some minutes.

+2

Watson and Price playing together has been magical. It doesn't make a ton of sense on paper, but chemistry doesn't always work that way. The only thing that seems obvious is that Price's lack of playmaking ability isn't as much of a liability when he's playing SG, and his lack of size doesn't matter as much defensively if he's playing against bench players.

Hayward's going to have a tough time finding minutes with Price playing like this.

It has been the best solution for now, no argument, but Watson and Price are really a one trick pony outside their fast breaking ability. Take that away and it will get ugly.

That may be true offensively and when it out ways the defensive intensity and spark they are bringing I'm sure coach Sloan will change it but no need until then.

Watson is the best thing ever to happen to Price. Price no longer has to set up the offense and keep things under control. He is allowed to play off the ball and be the pure energy guy he truly is.

I love it when we play Watson and Deron at the same time. Loved the Deron/Kobe matchup. Pretty sure Kobe didn't score a single time while Deron was on him.

Watson has been a great addition. Not only is he a good player that can run the system but he allows Price to move to the 2 where he is much more effective. The best part is, this team is only going to get better as guys become more comfortable.

True but Price is a traditionally bad three point shooter and teams can definitely zone us big time in a half court situation. Teams have not made adjustments for it yet but in a playoff game they would. If Price can develop a solid set three point shot I will be sold on it.

Nuggets play lawson and billups togther alot.; Now we can counter with price/watson and dwill... This is why i wish dee was around. He hustled and played great defense. Just ashame he had to get hurt in playoffs because he was coming around nice. Lawson is a blur on the court and we need to match that

I disagree. Playing small ball is exactly the kind of thing the Jazz need. They need to play "typical jazz ball" with the first team and then bring out a team that can run and hustle and give defenses different looks. I wouldn't mind seeing Watson/Price become a lot more common. and then surrounding them with decent shooters (Okur and AK/CJ whoever is "good" that game). That could be a very dangerous offensive second team when opponents are sitting their "best" defensive players.
