Portland trades

Meyers Leonard
&
CJ McCollum

I'm not sure how good Meyers Leonard is or will be. I haven't watched much of him, but he did get hot last year and was in the 50 - 40 - 90 club, except I think he didn't play enough games to qualify. So apparently he's a pretty good shooter. He's still young and on a rookie deal. That's could give us our stretch big.

CJ McCollum has his injuries issues, but has looked pretty good when he is healthy. He too is young and on a rookie deal. He also has that potential to be a really good player.

They both could be buy lows and then turn out to be good players.

It addresses our shooting needs.

Portland maybe does it because of what Happened to Mathews and maybe they want another shooting guard as insurance. They might view Trey Burke as someone they can count on being healthy unlike McCollum. They might just view these two players as better players. I'm not sure how they view either one of their own

Does Portland say no?

Would you do it?

Not saying I would because I'm just throwing something at the wall right now, I haven't looked closely at McCollum or Leonard.

The salaries don't match up but I'm pretty sure Portland can absorb the extra salary from Burks.

We could then get our other wing from the draft and or pick up someone like KJ McDaniels.

That was an ignore list worthy post:

Hi guys, I came up with this trade idea but I have no idea whether I would want to do it or not because I know nothing about the other team's players, and I also don't know whether it would work within league rules or not, but here it is so that you can discuss it even though there's no reason to waste your time.

In short - they won't do it even if it was working salary-wise...

The jazz are a well respected organization around the league. Pulling the trigger on this would turn us into "Phili West"

I don't think it's as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

Burks and McCollum are pretty equal in terms of value in my opinion.

So we swap Burke for Leonard who can be a stretch four.

Hell, I'd have to think about it a little more and I would try to squeeze a pick out of Portland, but I'd do it.

Without throwing unnecessary ire at the OP, I don't like this trade for two reasons: all of the unknowns about the Portland players, and that both Jazz players are better than them. It's almost as if this would be making a trade for its own sake.

It's a good trade for Utah. Portland doesn't do it though. If PDX loses Aldridge, they will blow it up and build around Lillard, CJ and Leonard. They wouldn't trade two of their three "core" for Burke and Burks. Those two just aren't good enough. There is a very good chance that Burks < CJ and we know Burke < Leonard.

I think we'd have to throw in #12 to even get PDX to consider.

Horrible trade.

One of the greatest lateral moves in the history of trades... Well, at least the username fits.

Look, if you want to do this trade, are you thinking about how the families of Burke and Burks will be affected? How Meyers' kids will feel getting used to their new school in Sandy? The flights, the interviews, all the extra work. And why, so you can make a lateral move that won't actually do anything at all? You might as well drive around the block over and over with no destination. But guess what? You're going to run out of ****ing gas, ****er.
