The Trout Man Commeth...

Dave, I think it's badass that you ran. There's a million arm chair QBs out there that would never even consider getting off their *** and trying to actually make a difference in their community. I totally applaud you for that.

FWIW, the chin up girl was not in reference to your chin at all. I haven't met you personally, so wouldn't really know what your chin looked like. Was just tryin to be a smartass.

major kudos for getting involved at all - hopefully you'll stay involved and maybe even run again with winning results!

This.

Dave, FWIW, where do you think you fell short? What could you do next time to beat this guy? Not 51-49 either. I'm talking 80-20 or something that will completely destroy his ego.

Hold the phone... I'm not as big a loser as I thought.

DAVE BALLOU 304 39.28%
JERRY W. RECHTENBACH 466 60.21%

That's still pretty crappy, and worse than I thought I'd do, but it's better than it was.

What a travesty that only 14.7% of the registered voters turned out for this election. What a failure on our parts.

The late push was the weed vote. They lost track of time and got to the polls late.

Ballou? Ballou? We called your name didn't we? Well, better luck next year.

I know I know. I'm supposed to shut up and take it in the *** from the beloved Mormons in charge if I am to be deemed worthy to be treated with common decency.

Jeez, a guy stops reading this site for a couple months and...Bam! Kicky comes back into the fold and Trout makes a valiant run at public office.

Welcome back, Kicky! I knew it was just a matter of time. You may want to increase that 10% to 12% or so just to make up for missing all those years. Just a thought.

I've missed you.

Trout, FWIW, color me very impressed. I think it's great you took a risk and threw your hat into the ring. I've never run for political office, but I think you really should look at the 60/40 result as a moral victory, especially when running against an incumbent. While the rest of us are sitting around watching Giada re-runs, playing video games and generally being the lazy asses we are, you were out campaigning, trying to win an election and do some good for your community.

Now, go drink some pee or whatever it is you do to relax/celebrate.

+1

It was much closer than I thought it would be. I hope you keep at it, even if you kinda suck at social issues and stuff.

My condolences. As Freak said, stick with it. Politicians with an irreverent style who fight for their convictions without towing party lines are rare. You seem like that kind of guy.
