Agreed. I can see how people on the left would want to blame it all on Trump due to the rabid attacks on Biden for the past 4 years, but it just doesn't follow.

If they keep indiscriminately laying off entire groups of the federal government I could see it leading to less safe air travel, among other equally horrible outcomes, but right at this moment it does not compute.

Trump and Musk don't care about money. They care about power. That's all. It's them exercising power, taking power, and trying to set up a dictatorship so they never have to give up power. They do not give a **** about anyone but themselves, they don't care about the people they fired, or their families. The especially don't give a **** about anyone affected with their shuttering of any federal departments. They want to sow chaos to keep everyone on their heels and throw enough **** at the courts until they start passing the bits and pieces necessary to take full control into the office of the president. That's the goal of project 2025 to take enough control that Trump cannot be deposed. Power, control, and dictatorship, that's the ultimate goal. Money is just an easy way to keep people on edge so they can't fight back.

I can imagine being in a position to take down the U.S. while you high five Trump and say "Let's do it!"

Of course Trump takes the moment wrong and tells you he only likes little girls, so you have to clarify you meant let's destroy the U.S. from the inside and then Trump gets a slightly smaller baby boner and you embrace each other. Despite your hips smashed together neither of you can tell that the other dude has a boner.

Then Trump says "Let's ****ing do it Elon!" and in the excitement you pull your pants down, turn around and lean over the bed. Then Trump says "You idiot, I told you I only like little girls. Put you damn pants on and let's do what no one else could do, not even daddy Putin. Let's destroy the U.S.A.!"

Elections have consequences. His base needs to feel the hot stove they voted for. It’s the only way to learn. I want maga to receive exactly what they voted for. It astonishes me to see how many MAGAs on here don’t want Trump to follow through with his promises. I want them! Tariff us into a depression! Let’s ****ing go! This is what voters wanted! We wanted tariffs, deporting a significant labor force, and the gutting of the social safety net. Let’s ****ing go!

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American electorate that has become numb to peace and prosperity. They’re dying of boredom. And flooded with horrific propaganda on teevee and social media.

In my adult life alone, republicans have done zero for the working class, yet they keep being put back into power. They slash taxes for billionaires so they can keep receiving bribes. And then run the country off a cliff. Democrats come in and must burn their entire first terms fixing problems. They’re rewarded in the second terms with an electorate that has now recovered with prosperity but now misses the drama and incompetence of the GOP.

Rinse, wash, repeat.
