The value of 9th and 13th picks.

Just trying to get myself excited if the Jazz miss the playoffs. If the Jazz end up getting two lottery pics do you think the Jazz will keep them both? My opinion is KOC wouldn't want to bring in two more rookies.

So what kind of player could we get if we traded one of the pics?.....Granger?

How high in the draft could we move up if we packaged them? Could we get a top three pick to get Kidd-Gilchrist?

Discuss.

9th and 13th would typically move us up to #6 or 7, depending on the draft but this one is so deep that I think it could get us as high as #5, from a team who needs multiple bodies and sees little to no difference at talent level between #5 and 9. We may see a difference but that doesn't mean someone else, like say Washington, doesn't.

Didn't the Jazz though get the 3rd pick using the 6th and 27th?

My opinion is that packaging the #9 and #13 picks would only be worth trading up (for us) to get the #1 pick. Whomever has it won't give it up and no one outside of Davis is worth two lottery picks.

Agreed. If we luck out and get both then we need to keep them both. As you stated, nobody is going to trade the 1st overall pick with Davis in the draft.

I think it could get you a fringe all-star player and a decent role player. However looking at the warriors schedule, i highly doubt that pick is coming our way this year. You would have a lot of options, thats for sure.

Kobe was taken 13th. Bynum like 12th. Andre Iguadola 9th.

My point is that lotto picks are usually very strong. 9th and 13th pick could get us 2 more stars and we can either trade them for another good piece or really build them.

Exactly. The Jazz need more talent period. If they develop, then that's a great problem to have.

It depends if there is a specific player we are targeting. However, as PKM pointed out, that player would have to be pretty special given that we could get a Quincy Miller/PJIII and a Kendall Marshall with those picks.

A few weeks ago I wanted the team to tank, so we can keep our late lottery pick but now I could care less if we keep it. I wanna this group to make the playoffs!!

It would be nice to maintain a "winning culture" fighting for the 8th seed & just losing out (9th) but even getting swept in the 1st brings so much more experience for the "core four".
Granted this draft is filled w/ plenty of rotation guys but even if we lose both picks, I think KOC has the assets to take back some salary from a team w/ multiple 1st to draft a player they like.

Biggest need = PG (Marshall, Lillard, Worten).
Teams w/ multiple 1st:
- POR (NJ's top 3 protected)
- HOU (NYK's top 5 & DAL's top 20 protected)
- NO (MIN via LAC) ex: pick (btwn 12-16) & Okafor (if Al/Paul aren't here) for our unprotected '13
- NJ (HOU's lottery protected) ex: pick (btwn 14-18) & Morrow/Petro/Farmar for our unprotected '13
- BOS (LAC's top 10 protected)
- CLE (LAL) ex: pick & Walton for Memo's TPE
- GS (SA) ex: pick & Biedrins for Memo's TPE (if Al/Paul aren't here)

What I'm hoping out for is somehow getting GW's pick... trading that with Harris & Jefferson for Rondo, (Bass?), & their mid 1st (where Ainge has higher picks to trade slightly up to snag Rivers)!!
Rondo (Tinsley/Watson) - Burks (Bell/FA or pick) - Hayward (Howard/Carroll) - Millsap (?Bass?/FA or pick) - Favors (Kanter/FA or pick)
Harris (Rivers) - Bradley (FA/pick) - Pierce (FA/pick) - Garnett (?Bass?/FA or pick) - Jefferson (FA/pick)

Another perspective regarding this year's lottery is this... Over the past 2 seasons, we got Jefferson, Favors, Hayward, Kanter, & Burks!!!

Nominated for most pointless thread this year. By the end of the week, GS will be in 7th place and finish up somewhere in the 4-6 range.
And Utah has a much easier schedule than Houston. So ZERO draft picks.

Maybe a better thread would be what can the Memo TPE and next year's 1st rounder get the Jazz in a trade.
