What's new

The Walking Dead

So for those that read the comics, did the Governor die this early??? I thought he was a protagonist for a long time in the comics?

well that early?

maybe even earlier. originally he attacked with woodburry. he did not go on the road for a few months and build himself up.
one of woodburry's citizen shot the governor in the back

I wonder if the show will go the Nagan route (Glenn and Maggie probably don't) and if they will introduce Abraham.

Also in the comics the Governor and Michonne are blood enemies, 1,000 x more than in the show. In the comics he captures her, has his way with her and tortures her for days.

She in turn escapes and goes back and captures him. She is in the middle of torturing and mutilating (he loses an eye, arm, privates, burns...) him to death when she gets interupted and the Governor miraculosly survives. So to see her stab him in the show was a little bit of a nice surprise for me.

Still wish Merle had lived. Really liked the direction Herschel was headed as well. Wanted Ricks group to be a hard group. having Shane, Darryl, Merle and Michonne is a good start.

Bob, could this guy be the rat person.. Notice that when this had happened that the hand wasn't even shown..
Not wanting to be thanked for helping the sick, always sneaking around for some booze.
He's also the newest member of the camp.

So the 2nd half of the season started. I haven't started watching them yet, but will probably watch both new episodes today at some point.

Expecting it to be more of the same mediocrity, but will still probably watch just because I feel like I need to keep up to date on at least 1 TV show per year.

You are more dedicated than me.... i gave up on this show

Once I start a story, I have to finish it. I finish every video game I start, every book I start, every tv series, etc. no matter how much I think they suck. If I've invested over a few hours of my time into it, I'm seeing it to the end.

Episode nine that covered the boy's life and the emptiness of the post apocalyptic world was really good. The atmosphere was killer. I like this scavenging new places thing in these kind of stories. I hope they can build on that.

Meh. Rinse, wash, repeat. Looks like they are about to meet up with another pscychopathic leader and he will do some **** they don't like and they will fight him at the end of the season. Characters are as boring as ever, still. Still way to melodramatic and bad acting.

Only thing character that is vaguely interesting is the little blonde girl. Seems like she could kill anyone at any point and not give a ****.

It's true that they have gone a little routine after the first season in which they failed to fill the hunger of the viewers that seek elements of fiction in a post apocalyptic story and I think it is sad that way has been chosen to fail to build onto the issues like the reason events of the whole thing which they could easily have speculated much more. It still hangs in the air. The final episode of the first season and the rest of the show are extremely different. But they set their goal toward drama part of that world and personal psychological stories. That is at least a difference that separates the show from rest of the zombie stories.

But if they turn this into "another city, another tyran, another villain" ****bag, I would be deeply disappointed evem though I put this show above most of the shows on air right now.

It bugs me when a geat story owner kills the potential and turns it into a soap opera. ****ing TV.

Problem is that there is no end game. Every TV show will fall flat on their face if they don't have a end in sight.

Breaking Bad was great because they wrapped the thing up. The Walking Dead just looks like a cash cow they will keep writing for as long as possible.

I'm not sure how the comics go or whatever, but the characters need to go somewhere and learn something new about the situation they are in. Something that is bigger than just surviving.

This.

And I get the drama aspect of killing off main characters, but if they aren't going to give us something bigger than just surviving, then killing off the characters we care about will just drive viewers away from the show. I didn't like that they killed Hershel, and if there in the end is just no meaning to it and they just wander off into more dangerous survival situations with nothing bigger looming in the distance then it is a slap in the face. That is a great way to kill the fan base along with the main characters they are killing off.

I think they're starting to give us something bigger.
All these signs stating "those that arrive, survive" are intriguing enough.

If it follows the comics then it really will turn into a "let's one-up the depravity of the last villain" story line that really has no ending in sight.

It's a very meh show as others have stated...

I love the zombie genre so this is right up my alley. I love the show.

WOnder if we will see Beth again and if this is a way to write Daryl out of the show without killing him. Does he wander off with this group to never be seen again?

Looks like everyone but Beth and Glenn have been linked to this Terminus place. I hope they have some of the groups meet up before they reach there though. Also no one has died yet but I think that chnages in the next episode...

I'd prefer that Rick's group stay seperate from any larger community. I like them off on their own, not lost in a crowd. Is the group that found Darryl (the same guys that Rick hid from) part of somehting bigger?

Only someone as square as Stoked could still find this show entertaining.
