What's new

The Walking Dead

I think that Daryl and Merle were the best characters in the series through the first three seasons -- certainly as a pair. They fed off one another and made each other much stronger characters than either could be alone. But after Merle finally ate it, Daryl has become a lot less interesting to me. He's now too serene and perfect, like some Walking Dead Jesus.

Season four was all about Carol to me. She had a really great arc: secretly teaching all the kids to kill, executing the sick, being discovered and unapologetic, and then bearing witness to Lizzie's insanity. And of course, her going all Rambo in the season five premiere was great fun. She's my favorite character at the moment.

I also really liked Hershel, partly because I just really like Scott Wilson (the actor). Wilson played my favorite supporting character in CSI -- Sam Braun. Admittedly, toward the end he was becoming overly angelic/fount-of-infallible-wisdom-ish, which is why he had to die (just as Dale did) and leave the group again without any firm moral compass. Because, y'know... it's boring if you have that.

Dude CSI was horrible TV. CSI and House are right up there atop the list of shows that should have never taken off. Ridiculous

To each his own. I enjoyed it, although it really should have ended when William Petersen left.

And what was so bad about House? The first three seasons were great fun.

Shows like CSI, Law & Order, etc. I just can't get into them. They dumb down the subject matter and over explain it to the audience through the guise of one expert talking to another about that issue. It's just too much. It doesn't pass the eye roll test for me.

But I like plenty of equally lame ****, so I'm not judging.

I never watched the show until just a few weeks ago. AMC had a marathon and played every episode. So I DVR'D it and mashed through the whole thing in just a few weeks. Man I love DVR. This is probably the best way to watch a series. I don't want to wait forever to know what happens in the next episode. It's nice just getting right to it and being able to skip commercials. I think it makes the show more watchable. Instead of feeling disappointed with one episode and having to wait to see if the next one is better, you can just get on with it quicker, and find yourself entertained again.

Overall I think it's pretty good. It's up and down some. Some episodes are better than others like with any show. It's to be expected.

My only complaint about it is the same complaint I have about every scary movie or show like this. It's that people can be so dumb in the shows. They are constantly doing dumb things to get themselves killed easily. I get annoyed by that. Seriously, stop wandering off by yourself, and stop letting your kids wander off by themselves. But I guess that's what you have to do to make the show entertaining. And in real life, I suppose people can be really dumb. There are tons of little situations where I'm just shaking my head at the dumb decisions the people are making. Like when Rick is having his meeting with the Governor. Just kill him. Screw talking. Holly hell. Funny how Carl gets this but Rick doesnt. In that kind of environment I'm not screwing around. I'm taking the first shot I have at him. He's already proven to be dangerous. Shoot first, asks questions later.

This very last episode that was just on last Sunday was absolutely the worst episode though. It had nothing to it all. It's like they had to just give you something real quick, because they weren't done with what they were getting to.

I look forward to tonight's episode. Hope it's better than the last. Now I'm like everyone else, I have to wait to see what happens next. I might let a bunch build up and do the same thing again.

Again though, I like the show. It's a little addicting.

I agree that the latest episode was awful. Very disappointing. Hopefully it'll get better.

Not only that but it felt like they had 30 Minutes of commercials during that episode. At one point they seriously had 3-4 minutes of show then right back to 2 minutes of commercials. So bad/short episode with a seriously boring story line. I've been a huge fan of walking dead but right now they are losing my interest. If it does not get more interesting soon I'll stop watching.

taking a break midseason is a joke. then to come back with such an emotional episode when most of us have forgotten where the story is just ruined it. I'm about to give up on normal television.

Story? The Walking Dead's story has been the same forever.

"Hey guys, lets go somewhere"

I wonder how many more seasons AMC can milk this thing for until the majority of people start getting bored? I know a ton of people who hate the show, and I know a ton who love it. Seems like lately more people have been converting to the hate side though.

This whole thread you have been complaining about the show constantly. Why in the world do you watch a show you dislike so much? Just stop watching it if you think it's so bad. Show a little self control.

You complain about everything though. It's like you have aspergers syndrome.

Z Nation is way more appealing than The Walking Dead. The title basically explains the show 100%.

Make a thread about Z Nation then bro.

I haven't watched Z nation, but I watched a few clips on YouTube and read about it. It doesn't sound good. It tries to insert cheesy comedy into it. That doesn't sound good. The acting looks terrible, and the costume and graphics look terrible.

It's just cheap knock off of The Walking Dead.

Lol nah. What do you get out of the walking dead? A snoozefest full of watered down dialogue. The characters act like it's the 18th century with their personalities.

Z Nations purpose is to BE cheesy and it adds to the comic factor. The acting is about on the same graph as TWD. the costumes and screenplay are not as bad as you're putting it out to be.

Besides, didn't you just start watching TWD? It is not anywhere the same as the show. The only reason you say that is it's based off zombies....

I agree, the show is excruciatingly repetitive. The only way to watch is on record so I can fast forward, edit it down to maybe twenty minutes per episode. Still too hooked on some of the characters and the storyline to give up completely. Unfortunately, it's way too popular to end the show in a creatively responsible manner, the producers will be encouraged to drag things out for at least two or three more years.

Twd are masters at boring the **** out of you for 40 minutes only to give you a cliffhanger at the very end of the show to make you want to watch the next episode to see what happens. That's all they've been good at.
