Utah trades Favors, Hood, Exum, Diaw (filler), every draft pick imaginable split between rebuilding OKC an hanging on ATL.

Utah gets Paul an Russel.
ATL dumps salary an gets trade chips for there inevitable rebuild (Dwight, Alec, Hill).
OKC gets trade chips an potential assets (Exum) for there inevitable rebuild.

Everyone is happy.

CP3 and Russell would be a great one two punch and a big upgrade at pg.

This trade is something out of NBA 2K17

ESPN claims we lose ten more games with Bobert, Millsap, JJ, Hayward, Westbrook LOL.

Come on DL use those asstests get this done!
Why would we want to lose 10 more games bobert?

Westbrook and CP3? A stat-chasing ballhog and an older PG that can't get past the 2nd round in the playoffs? You must not be a real Jazz fan...a real Jazz fan would propose a trade for Curry and Durant.

Westbrook would be awesome, but I don't think we stand a shot in hell of making that happen. OKC regrets the Harden trade and always will. They will only trade Westbrook if he says he is leaving or wants to leave. Based off of the Durant fallout, I just think he stays put. He just seems more loyal but I could be wrong. I think the only way OKC trades Westbrook is if it's to a team he wants to go to (Lakers?) and that team gives up a top 5 pick AND a great NBA player. If Westbrook said he was leaving after the year, the Lakers could send D'Angelo Russell and #2 and it would be done.

Westbrook is leaving. OKC does not have to get anything for him he is unrestricted. Only way they get a return is agreeing to a sign an trade. Why would anyone want to go to LA?

The way forward to a championship:

Hayward George and Butler converge in Boston. CP3 moves to San Antonio. Griffin signs with Cleveland. The 4-power revolving door championship machine is born. All of the other 26 teams become farm teams for stars who then move into one of these to rack up some championships to round out their career. Occasionally as the years go by this shifts to Miami and the Lakers, in addition to Boston and San Antonio. Might shift to New York one day. The big markets where the players and the NBA can make the most money. The days of parity are over.

/melodramatic rant

[edit: before you try to say San Antonio is a small market let's put this baby to bed. The San Antonio metro area has a greater population than Wyoming and Montana combined. It has nearly 2/3 the population of the entire state of Utah. Just the metro area is the 26th largest metro area in the country. And with their decades of success if you think their fan base is limited to that 2.8 million people then you are not up on the state of the NBA. In a country where the PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS WHO PLAY THERE still refer to it as the "City of Utah", San Antonio is an institution and anything BUT a small market.

I don't see any realistic trade available right now that could propel this team to a championship in the near future. The only route I see potentially leading to a title is retaining Hayward & condensing all assets (outside of him/Gobert) in search of that third star. Obviously it would be preferable to acquire an established superstar but not only is it unlikely (due to our lack of high-end assets), it's also far from a certainty to get us past GSW/etc.

Assuming Hayward resigns, we would have a championship caliber duo, in/entering their prime & under contract long-term. I believe it would be worth taking a step back for a year or 2 if it could potentially lead us to taking that leap up to legitimate contender status. I understand that you can't take this approach until the Hayward situation is resolved & I fully expect the FO to attempt to retain it's key FA's in order to (hopefully) build off of this season's success, while making a few minor adjustments to the roster.

But outside of Exum/Hood developing into a star or a Gobert-esque late lottery find by DL (neither of which we should be banking on), committing significant long-term money to Hill/Ingles/Hood (next year) will likely put a cap on a core (Hayward/Gobert) that otherwise has the potential to compete for a championship (if given that 3rd star/solid supporting cast). This is a pivotal off-season, beyond just retaining Hayward.
