What's new

There might be a market for Evan Turner in Utah?

Turner reminds me of Boris Diaw's play a few years ago (they play diff positions, yes) - Turner isn't great at any one thing, but he's decent at pretty much everything. The question is: how well would Turner fit into our system? I think he could fit into most systems, as he's a smart player.

lol @ anyone who wouldn't want a Turner for Sap trade.

Sixers would laugh in our faces at that offer.

Well, your faces. Nobody laughs in UGLI's face.

I think Turner would fit in Jazz system in the way that a square block would fit in a square hole (i.e., perfectly).

He has that mid-range game, can drive it, can dish it, can come around the the bend and hit the J. His 3pt shooting % is also pretty good. 76ers are giving up on him too soon.

Jazz trade Al Jefferson and Jamaal Tinsley to the 76ers for Evan Turner, Dorell Wright, and Arnett Moultrie? Salaries match up as well, the 76ers could add future picks if the Jazz feel like they are not getting enough value. Or the Jazz could trade Paul Millsap to the 76ers for Evan Turner and Arnett Moultrie, maybe the 76ers would do both of these deals maybe neither, but probably one of them.

We would have to add value bro. Like alot.

nothingbutnet needs to be our gm. Jefferson for Lebron + 2015 and 2017 unprotected firsts. Who can possibly say no?

The more I think about this scenario, I like the thought and I have heard Kevin O'Connor mention this when they asked him on his radio interview last week on 1280, what he thought if Alec Burks as a primary point guard, and Kevin's response was if he was in the floor with another good ball handling 2 guard. And then I thought about of positions 1-3 all interchangeable if you have an Alec Burks, Evan Turner, and Gordon Hayward. Then all of a sudden you have 3 really athletic good ball handlers that can all three handle the ball in the pick and roll or just driving to the basket. So it got me thinking of a line up of...

PG Alec Burks
SG Evan Turner
SF Gordon Hayward
PF Enes Kanter
C Derrick Favors

Now thats a pretty bright future, and imagine a Mo Williams, Paul Millsap, and DeMarre Carroll coming off the bench. I think that is something to think about. Thoughts?

i would love to see this lineup.

Burks is not a PG. Get over it. Also a wild head might be a good addition to change the losing attitude of the organization. The attitude that tells them as if they are never worthy of championship.

You make a really good point. I think Turner struggles in Philly while Holiday does most of the ball handling, I think he needs the ball in his hands to be successful. I have read in several articles recently that people think he should be the primary ball handler for whatever team he may get dealt to. I think that lineup would be an absolute nightmare for the league to deal with now let alone a few years from now. I'd still prefer Bledsoe over Turner, but that would be a nice consolation prize. I think a Big Al for Turner & Hawes deal would work for both sides. If the experiment doesn't work, they expire after next season when it's time to extend Kanter & Burks.

The problem is with adding another combo guard is you have Mo, Foye, Burks, Tinsley, Watson, and Hayward already. So we want to kiss Burks goodbye again?
I just don't thinking adding someone is inconsistent to an already overcrowded back court is something we pine for.

not really into this trade much, but mo, foye, tinsley, and watson are all expiring. If the FO really wanted to invest in the Turner, hayward, burks lineup, they'd push Ty to play them, and let at least 2 of those contracts expire come summertime i would think.

I wanted turner in the draft and would love to get him. if we could draft a pg in the draft say Burke then the jazz are set with a fantastic youth movement

pg - Burke
sg - turner
sf - Hayward
pf - favors
c - kanter
6th - burks
shooter - foye
inforcer - carroll
3rd big - FA signee splitter
energizer - Evans

although I would guess that if we traded for turner Philly would insist on burks being part of the trade but it is fun to dream.

Turner is on all my fantasy teams. His shooting comes and goes.

His strengths are:
-Rebounding
-Ballhanding
-posting up smaller players
-good defense
-very good NBA athlete

Weaknesses
-inconsistent 3pt and midrange shooting.
-mental tougness/inconsistency

Overall I would like to have him on the team.

He wouldn't fit in a spot-up shooter role very well. So moving Jefferson for him and another player would be better for us overall IMO. That would force us into an offense with more ball movement.

He is roughly the same size as Hayward and Burks.

A 3 guard line up with Turner/Burks and Hayward would be very interesting. Defensively they would be a awesome and Burks and Turner's rebounding would really help the team. We would need some bigs who can provide some floor spacing.

This would be a very good lineup for the future. I like it. Hayward also is a decent play maker which helps.
