The more I think about this scenario, I like the thought and I have heard Kevin O'Connor mention this when they asked him on his radio interview last week on 1280, what he thought if Alec Burks as a primary point guard, and Kevin's response was if he was in the floor with another good ball handling 2 guard. And then I thought about of positions 1-3 all interchangeable if you have an Alec Burks, Evan Turner, and Gordon Hayward. Then all of a sudden you have 3 really athletic good ball handlers that can all three handle the ball in the pick and roll or just driving to the basket. So it got me thinking of a line up of...
PG Alec Burks
SG Evan Turner
SF Gordon Hayward
PF Enes Kanter
C Derrick Favors
Now thats a pretty bright future, and imagine a Mo Williams, Paul Millsap, and DeMarre Carroll coming off the bench. I think that is something to think about. Thoughts?
I would cream my pants if we swapped Al for Turner. I think it would be the heist of the season, maybe the decade for Jazzfanz.
Burks isn't a STARTING PG. But he can do just fine as the backup. In this case, I think KOC nailed it: pair him up with a good ball-handling SG so the pressure is not 100% on Alec. I think the problem with many Jazz fans is we're not accustomed to the term "combo-guard." We've never really had one. It was Stockton and a 10 min/per backup for so long. Then the organization searched and searched for a "pass-first" replacement until Deron came along. It doesn't have to be the same model year after year or with the starters AND subs.Burks is not a PG. Get over it. Also a wild head might be a good addition to change the losing attitude of the organization. The attitude that tells them as if they are never worthy of championship.
This.
But what are the other pieces?
It's about the $$, George.
I would cream my pants
Guard rotation of Burke, Burks, Hayward, Turner, and Carroll.
I don't know about you guys, but I am way ****ing down with that. Burks with spot minutes at 1, and anchoring the bench rotation with Carroll. Hayward can be the primary pick and roll distributor with Turner with the starters
Burke
Turner
Hayward
Favors
Kanters
6th man: Burks.
Plenty of distributors, good defenders from 1-5. Carroll off the bench. It would be nice to have Millsap as the third big, or a player like Thaddeus Young. I honestly can't see how that lineup wouldn't have the cumulative firepower to compete with anyone. One of our players will be voted as an all-star simply due to our record (think the Pacers).
Two trades I can think of:
Hawes, Turner and Dorrel Wright (whom we would let expire, OR buy out since its his last year) for Al Jefferson.
Millsap for Tuner and Wright.
Only worry is that Hawes would take away minutes from our bigs. But he only has one year left after this one. Still, I think he could be a solid 3rd or 4th big.
Or, we could avoid Hawes, and take Nick Young, Wright (both expire) and Turner for Al.

I like that first trade, but Philly will want a couple of picks. Or more.
I think Evan Turner is an upgrade for Foye and Marvin Williams, but I don't think he makes us a fundamentally different or better team. Honestly, I like Alec Burks' progress and think he can potentially do what Turner does at least as well. Turner would probably be more effective coming off the bench where he could play SG or SF and not have his lack of quickness work against him. I could also see him play some back-up PG minutes. I'm looking forward to getting another significant piece in this upcoming draft--a confident PG and/or a great athlete on the wing.
I would rather keep our picks than spend them on an Evan Turner trade.
Would you still do it if Utah threw the better of the GSW and Utah pick and a future 2nd rounder?
I'm too lazy right now to look, but anybody know if Wright is restricted? He's crap this year, but might be worth having on the right match. This issue figures into the picks I'd give.
