Not likely. They probably just happened to like both players and thought those guys would give them a chance to win. Did they cooperate with the Jazz in working to get both? Maybe. But it's not like they are going to take on all the second round players we can't use immediately just so we can retain their rights. They aren't some farm team.
I don't know either, but the first time it happened, it happened last year, with a Jazz player to a team that also took another Jazz player. It wouldn't always need to be BC Žalgiris. It could be a call to a colleague suggesting a player. Farm leaguing overseas is better for most players because you get paid more and people actually care about the basketball that you are playing. If the Jazz aren't doing this, they should. Chances are these players will never play in the NBA whether they are originally from the US or foreign born anyway. . .
