Wow. I'm happy for Scott Layden, but not happy as a Jazz fan. Thibodeau could make Minny really good.

The west will be another dogfight.

Well damn. Minnesota's biggest weakness was their turn-style defense, and Thibs + more experience is certainly going to change that.

I told you guys.

Them Twolves are one of the major packs of the near future.

Fortunately so as the Jazz and hopefully I will come up corrected again.

Homerun hire for Minnesota in Scott Layden. Guy pounds the pavement as hard as anyone in NBA, and is incredibly well respected by his peers.

But disrespected by the Utah Jazz. Strange how that went down.

Utah and Portland on the rise again. If OKC retains Durant and Westbrook and if Thibs works some magic in Minny the NW could be stout again.

Knicks fans despise Scott Layden.. He was unquestionably terrible for them..

From Sam Mitchell to Thibs. Watch out

Minny fans right now

Not worried about it. Towns will be played 38 minutes a game next year, miss 15 games due to injury the year after, and about 35 the season after that because Thibs kills his guys.

Scott Layden was an assistant coach under Frank Layden, later became GM of the Jazz. Honestly, was a big-time hustler. Flipped Jeff Malone into Jeff Hornacek and pulled off the greatest what-if trade in Jazz history: What if Rony Seikaly hadn't been a lil bitch and actually come to play with the Jazz. Rony was no slouch and would have give the Jazz an offensive center.

Then he left for the Knicks where he promptly traded Patrick Ewing and signed Allan Houston to a $250 Million albatross.

Then he came back to the Jazz as an assistant coach.

Then Sloan left. And Ty Corbin took over.

Then DOL was hired.

Somewhere along the way Frank Layden got all butt-hurt that Scott Layden was passed over for both the GM and Head Coach positions. As if they were his birthright.

I personally don't think that Scott Layden was disrespected by the Jazz, rather that he is a totally known quantity and the Miller's weren't interested in more of the same. IMO they made the right choice.

Cool. Minnesota has a better coach than us now.

I wouldn't say better, more proven for sure. But thibs is likely flawed as a coach, unless his time off has taught him something about time management and workload.

He is certainly a great coach. But we're not certain quin will not be a great coach.

Roster management in Chicago was also horrible. I'm betting that played a role in the heavy minutes.

I like Quin, but I'd take Thibs over him any day.

I'll take any and all bets that Towns doesn't lead the league in minutes or go over 40 minutes a game. NAOS King Cy
