Third Party

This would be the least inspiring party ever. And would stand for sweet **** all except getting elected.

Depends on how it was done. just canning it is pretty lame and fits into the current atmosphere we have.

I am so ready for a third party, even if I don't agree with them. I think guys like Romney, Paul Ryan, John Huntsman, John Kasich, they could all benefit from a moderate third party, and so could a lot of democrats. The republicans need to get past the idea that they have to pander to a conservative base. I am so sick of the candidates like Cruz and Trump.

I want a 3rd party that brings actual change, for the better or for the worse. Either reduce the government drastically (the best option), or increase it drastically. If increased drastically I have faith that this would be an eye opener to the people and then we'd probably have a true and much needed revolutionary movement. America has been put through the frog experiment for too long.

I'm canning it based on the parameters you introduced. You said the party should be made out of wishy-washy members of both current parties, and I'm wondering why you think that would end up creating anything but a wishy-washy party.

Being moderate or centrist isn't a position. It's just being afraid to take a position.

What the US needs is a proper multi-party system. Not just an extra party, but a whole bunch of parties that aren't bloated, big-tent, paradoxical monsters. Currently, you have a party broadly supporting less government intervention in economy and conservative social policies and a party broadly supporting more government involvement in economy and progressive social policies. What happens if your views don't align with that. What about if you support the right to choose and gay marriage, but are a big fan of balanced budgets and reducing debt? Who are you to vote for? Or if you love being on welfare, but hate Muslims and Mexicans? What about the Christian Left? There are parties in Europe that promote the idea of Christian Socialism. And what of ethnic parties? If I were a Latino living in the US, I cannot for the love of me figure out why I would vote for the two major parties if I had a party devoted strictly to pursuing Latino interests to vote for? Or a regional party like a Southern party?

The bottom line though, is that these parties would stand for something. Not be big-tent coalitions broad enough that at any time, they could place themselves just about anywhere on the political spectrum if it means getting votes.

It is looking like we may have a third party this year. But two of them will be Republican.

There will only be 1 3rd party candidate on all 50 state ballots, Gary Johnson(L), and another Jill Stein(G)on enough to win the necessary 270 electoral delegates. The 3rd party candidates are Gary Johnson and Jill Stein anyone else is probably too late to the party to get on the ballot.

Edit: No probably about it. It's too late to get on most state ballots. If someone started today it would be a long shot to get on enough and impossible to get on all of them.

I'm sorry but that last line is bunk. It's not being afraid. It's not going to an extreme. What a load of bunk.

Forgot about this.

I wished it wasn't a 2 party system but an individual system. People would have less prejudices of voting one individual or the other because I like his policies but he's "on the other side". It would encourage more people to actually look into the candidate's policies more deeply imo. For instance I like Bernie's non-interventionist foreign policy which doesn't make me a dem, socialist or what you will.
Yeah, but if you vote for him you get all the socialist crap. It's all part of the same package.

Your political system is far more entertaining than ours ... particularly this years version !

Curious what you think of Australia's gun laws? Right wingers here seem to think crime has skyrocketed in Australia since they banned guns.

he likes them

That speech by Mitt. If he spoke like that during his campaigns he would have won.

I think he should run as the third party independent and shatter both parties. He would be the clear winner of Trump-Hillary-Romney.

I like Romney. I didn't like who he played to win the nomination last time. I would vote for him if he was in this race. I think it's too late to get on the ballot third party though.
