What's new

This guy needs to be ouuuuuuuuuuuuuut

I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see more Burks or letting Evans play when the whole team looks sluggish and I also understand frustration posting after a loss. However at the beganing of the year we had people saying he was subbing to much and needs to get a rotation etc.. now he is getting grief for not improvisng enough.
As Corbin has done in some games he has closed with Watson (to a smaller degree CJ and/or Howard) as he is a vet and has earned the coaches trust I can understand it from a coaches perspective that it's hard to leave it to rookies or 2nd year players when you have a vet you know/trust more. Also note almost every coach in the league subs the majority of their starters back in at some point in the 4th and certainly close with them.

Does anybody feel like Corbin sits down before the game and writes down all the min the players should get, and once the game starts he just sticks to that? It's like he doesn't make changes based on the way the game is played.

...must be a Sloan disciple, who thinks he has Stockton and Malone still on his team?

This is Ty's first full year as head coach taking over for a legend.

Ty is a lot like Kanter, Favors, Burks, and Hayward, going through growing pains trying to figure things out.

Like Kanter, Favors, Burks, and Hayward Ty has shown some promise as a head coach. Have patience Ty will be fine, and if not he'll be fired and Miller can hire Someone else.

....coaches are not suppose to be "figuring things out" when they get hired! They should already KNOW what they want and how to get it! So if he's THAT inexperienced why was he hired in the first place??? He sat at Sloan's side for years! He should have learned what to do.....as well as what NOT to do from him!

Wait ... sure seems like you say a coach should be flexible, give what the defense gives you, give minutes to who's doing well ... then you say he should have already had things figured out. Coaches need to understand the game, coach to the strengths of the personnel, and 'figure out' what those strengths are and coach each games as each progresses.

Every coach is figuring things out, every game, every year ..

The only people I heard saying such nonsense were Harpring and Boler and virtually every radio host -- in other words, the people who like to spout cliches with never a thought to what's happening on the floor or with the team.

First I was pissed that Ty took the starters out when he did. If you remember correctly it was the Starters that started the run and had the game to within something like 5 points when Ty took Hayward and Bell and Harris out. The Bench came in and took what was happening and ran with it. If Corbin would have stuck with the starters a little longer when they were hot then the bench really could have finished the game because they wouldn't have been gassed. If Watson is asking out you know he is on empty. Then when the starters came back they were Ice cold. I really don't like set rotations. He needs to ride who is hot.

Watching Ty for about 50 games now it appears as if he has absolutely no idea about how to manage guys' minutes, how to strategize at the end of close games (remember NO last year where he told the guy to make the free throw? Or playing the same players through much of the 4th and 2 overtime periods this year against TOR? etc...) he also seems completely scared to take chances, ride the hot hand, deviate from the play book (his play calling is so predictable) oh and he also can't draw up a play out of a timeout.

I was against the hire because I think it's illogical to have an inexperienced coach leading a roster full of inexperienced players. My disagreements with his style have been well documented on this forum. However, I did see some positives after the first five games this year. But now it seems like he's fallen back to being unsure of himself, and sticking to some rigid rotation.

I've decided to let the entire season play out before I make my final judgement.

However, the bottom line is that our PG production (and lack of PG for the future) is the biggest problem with team - and most pressing issue that needs to be fixed. I don't care who's on the sidelines as our coach, they'd be severely limited by Harris and Watson. Watson does some nice things, but if he has to play around 25 min a game then that means we aren't a playoff team.

I don't think Ty is a bad coach, but lately he's been doing some baffling things. How Howard is getting this many minutes is super puzzling. Pairing Howard and CJ makes zero sense whatsoever, since they are both chuckers.

Agreed. I created a thread the other day asking if the relatively equal minutes schtick is to save their legs during this compact schedule, to showcase them for a trade or as an experiment to see if not playing your best players more than the role players will win games. Maybe he's just using it as a tryout to evaluate what he's got.

Whatever the case, it's obviously not translating to wins and teams have caught on to what made us successful in that early stretch.

I'd like to see Hayward playing a minimum 30 minutes a game barring foul trouble. 35 is ideal, but beggers can't be choosers.

Exactly.

Ty has made plenty of mistakes this year, but having a better coach doesn't suddenly make this a really good team. I'd prefer more minutes for our young guys, especially when they're playing well, but I'm willing to be patient and let things play out this year.

If Corbin goes, I sincerely hope it's after the season is over. The last thing this group of players needs is another sudden, mid-season coaching change.

Corbin seriously needs to give Favors more time. 12 minutes?? I'm sick of seeing Jefferson and Milsap.
I'm glad he gave Hayward minutes though. Hayward did an amazing job at Durant.

Its your only hope. Chances are slim with a 3 ball attempt, zero with a 2 point play.

and here I thought Obi Wan was our only hope
