What's new

This team vs last ... who is better ?

And please for all that is holy, stop saying, "can you imagine if we had Hayward?" He's gone people. Plus, if he would have stayed we wouldn't have Udoh or Thabo. Those two are unreal. And this would be Hayward's team, which, I wouldn't like at all.

I think there will be games this season when we really, really struggle to score. It'll be damn frustrating to watch.

I'm excited about our team, but I think we were a more balanced squad last year.

Not necessarily true.
Look, Hayward >>> Sefalosha. And Utah was looking for a replacement for Withey. I think DL may have still used part of the MLE to sign Udoh. I'm not fantasizing over Hayward. The question was asked about last year vs. this. Hayward was an all-star. He's a huge loss. Jazz may have won 60 last season if healthy. Jazz - if healthy - may win 50 this year.

Better depth has lessened the effect of losing the top two scorers from last year; it doesn't entirely make up for that, though.

As of right now, it seems equal. If Mitchell and/or Hood light up, this team is better. This year's team is really feeding off each other and, as has been said, playing angry. Assuming the D stays as good as it is, we're golden. The record may not reflect because the West is tougher overall, but so are we.

I'll take this year's squad. I like the chemistry. I like Ricky over Hill. Udoh is a huge lift for that second team. Too bad Dante isn't healthy. Dante as the backup point would really help that second team too.

When it comes to wins it may not be better but when it comes to excitement and fun to watch it's not even close. This is by far the most fun team to watch since last time Jazz went to finals and that 2003-2004 season.

What would you rather have? This year's team, or this year's team with Betraywood and that HUGE, crushing contract we would have had to pay him?

I'll take this year's team.

Confidence is a fickle thing. Right now, the Jazz are playing with confidence. Remember the 2004-05 season when the Jazz won 6 of 7 to start the season? Then the wheels fell off and they won only 20 more games for the rest of the season.

I believe they could win 50 games this year, but then what I believe has damn little to do with reality.

It's way to early to be claiming that this year's team is better that last year's.

They lost their MVP - AK47 for more than 20 games... after that it was too late to recover.

People wondered if we would even score 90 this year after losing Hill and Hayward and adding defensive specialists. So far we are only 1ppg less than last year, with our "weak offense".

It's to early to say really, but I think this years team is better, because of the improved defense on the perimeter and in the paint. The offense may not drop as much as people thought it would. I do still have small concerns about who will take over and score in crunch time and in the playoffs. I say "and in the playoffs" because they will be back.

This is basically how I feel as well. We'll be fine scoring by committee for the most part in the regular season, but if we want to make any noise in the playoffs we will need more scoring/playmaking from the wing. I don't know if Hood Burks or even Mitchell has it in them this year, but if they do look out!

what we need is to stop turning the ball over.

I'll take this year's team.

We had a faith in him, but We were very lucky the things happened.
Now we are "A" defensive team without bad contract.

I'm on board.

I really think this is going to work itself for the most part. I'm sure we'll have more TOs than last year just because Rubio is more of a gambler than Hill was, but I expect to see improvement from the first few games.
