Ugh. This is just awful. I've read (unconfirmed) reports that dozens of people were shot.

The perpetrator(s) a cowardly piece of ****. This is just sickening. BTW there's apparently a video going around (this sick **** livestreamed the attack) and while I haven't seen it, I've heard its just ****ing awful. Be careful about where you go looking for info on this so you don't see something you wish you hadn't.
 
Our prime minister is a ****ing embarrassment, last week he can find the time to fly a plane load of journalists to Christmas Island for a photo op and speeches to denigrate asylum seekers. Today he can't get in front of a camera and express support for a country and their people that we share so bloody much history and culture with. Over a million of there citizens live here, what does he do? A ****ing Tweet, the man is a pathetic shill.
 
New Zealand is in my bucket list. I'm quite sure I will never get there but along with Hawaii they are my top 2

She says there is no gun culture in New Zealand - shops do not sell semi-automatic weapons as they do in the US, for example.

Firearms are generally used only in rural areas for hunting and "you wouldn't see anyone with a gun".

It's not a crazy guy with easy access to guns. It's a well planned attack by someone on the extremist end of a not uncommon ideology.

Correct. It’s not uncommon. Just visit Breitbart anytime and you’ll see similar rantings. That’s the thing, this type of hate isn’t uncommon. If anything, these crazies are becoming more common and more emboldened. Why’s that?
