Thoughts on the coaching staff changes?

Igor promoted and Brad Jones no longer on the coaching staff.

Igor Kokoskov has been promoted up the assistant coaching ladder and will sit on the front row during games with fellow assistants Johnnie Bryant and Alex Jensen.

The major casualty in the reshuffling is Brad Jones, who had been the lead assistant, as he won't be returning to the Jazz this season in a coaching capacity. There is the chance that Jones can stay on in the organization in a different role. But as an assistant, Jones is out.

Does Brad Jones have much more to recommend him than being Jerry Sloan's nephew? In comparing resumes with Igor Kokoškov it doesn't even seem like a close comparison.

Jones was a DLeague head coach in a couple of places and was an assistant on the Spurs staff. I think this is cutting the cord to the Sloan KOC tree.

Kokos is dope and i'm glad he's lead assistant.

don't forget Igor serving as Obra's lead assistant when they coached the Serbian national team together. Or coaching with Larry Brown when they won the chip. Seeing as this Jazz team probably looks up to those Pistons teams in tons of ways, there's really no better assistant to have on the squad.

Hmmm. Bryant looked kinda lost in SL. Interesting that Jones got the boot. But I don't have a clue, so this was probably the right move.

Bryant is the main skills development coach from what I gather. SL is just their shot at being the guy in control and I doubt their performance has much to do with their job security as an assistant and more to do with their future prospects of one day moving up to be an eventual head coach or lead assistant.

He won a D-League championship. I have a feeling that the coaching staff/management knows both of them well enough at this point that their resumes are immaterial, though. The promoted a guy who they have growing confidence in and let go another guy who they don't. Shocker.
