What's new

Three missed FG's and fumble returned for a TD.

Too much doing it the right way message. Message should be winning is top priority. Everyone knows sports is not the most important thing ... No need to make it a mantra.

No. Has he ever beat anybody who is considered a "good" team? Since he got there they have been really good at beating bad or average teams. But have they beat anybody of worth?

I dont think bronco is a very good coach and his teams do always choke in the big games (utah, tcu, florida state), but as to the question "has he ever beat anybody who is considered good?"..... he did beat oklahoma in dallas new stadium when oklahoma was ranked like 1 or 2.

Other than that game his teams usually always lose the big games.

This! big time.

Im a fan, i want football to be top priority. I hate hearing that bronco thinks football is 5th priority.... even if its true, dont go broadcasting that to all your fans.

They were #3 and Bradford was out for the 4th Qtr I believe. I think Oklahoma finished the season unranked too. I would consider it a quality win though, just nit picking a little.

Yup.

If I worked at a gumball factory I'd try to make the best gumballs I could. I wouldn't feel the need to tell people all the time how unimportant gum balls are. Everyone knows that.

If Coach Whitt felt the need to keep telling me how unimportant football is in the grand scheme of things, I'd feel a bit chastised and talked down to. Just coach the football team and try and win. I'm not looking for life advice, I just want to watch my team win.

Bronco may not be the best guy for the football team, but if he can consistently get 8 to 10 wins (or more), get into a bowl, and still be a spiritual leader, maybe that's perfect for his bosses (I'm not talking about Holmoe). It may handicap the football program's ability to maximize their potential, but their eternal souls will be blessed.

Except #9. That dude's going straight to hell.

Of course of course. If you love the coach he is showing poise, if you hate the coach he has no pulse.

Get at me when Roscoe wins anything bigger than the Maaco Las Vegas Bowl. Dungy is a Super Bowl champ.

Damn it, I'm trying to have a conversation with Trollnan.

I negged myself.

Until Roscoe can get players that exhibit even a modicum of discipline, BYU will never reach the next level.

I thought BYU would lose this and in a way it is nice to see. Every year we all hear about how great BYU is and how they have the best _________ in the country. I watched an interview with Greg Wrubell and he made it sound like BYU had future Pro-Bowlers at every position. So when the season starts and BYU beats a couple of crappy teams, they break into the top 25 and the hype goes through the roof. Then they lose a game and everyone (at least the people I talked to at church today) start calling for __________'s head. He clearly isn't a good enough __________ coach.

He was saying that BYU has a policy of not playing on Sunday. If they end up in a tournament that requires a Sunday game they say they will forfeit. So what would they have done if their Saturday night game had turned into a Sunday morning game?

That's a very good question, one which many people were asking today, and one which I really don't know the answer to. One the one hand, BYU has a policy of not playing on Sunday. They clearly would never have scheduled a game for Sunday.

On the other hand, BYU also believes very strongly in honoring its commitments. Having integrity is a commandment just like keeping the Sabbath day holy is. And BYU had a commitment to play the game as it was scheduled. That strongly implies a commitment to FINISH the game. And because of the partnership with ESPN and their broadcast, this is more than just a commitment to the other team and the people there to watch the game.

It would actually have been kind of a lose-lose situation. Either way there are MANY people who would have complained.

Personally I believe the commitment aspect would have won out and they would have completed the game. But who really knows?

I think about 5 years ago I read about one of the BYU teams (volleyball?) that had a similar situation, albeit without huge numbers of fans and no TV broadcast. The game went late on a Saturday night. If I recall correctly the coach let the players decide what to do, and the players voted to stop playing and consequently forfeit the game. So again, who knows what would have happened this time.

Negg yourself for not having a very high football IQ as well, Moron. I forget that you're great for talking smack but when it comes to X's and O's and stuff like that you're dumb. My bad.
