What's new

Timberwolfs at UTAH JAZZ Friday Jan 28, 7:00PM

Quite honestly, some of us puked our guts out at the thought of Bell as a starter.

Me = One.

Dude played half way decent this year so far, and me = stupid.

Now, not so much.

Just the same, Deron bitched about losing Brewer. Jazz made financial decisions to let Mathews and Korver go.

Those decisions were considered obvious by many Jazzfanz. Especially Wes Mathews.

Anyone remember how Portland was trying to screw us by jacking up our team salary? Millsap and then Mathews?

Turns out, Portland was trying to steal our RFA's. Go figure.

Long story short, Boozer always sucked, but multiple 1st round picks mean nothing when acquiring a true center. Too bad we have a 4 playing 5 and a 3 1/2 playing 4.

Nevermind.

A win is nice, but a team getting 20 steals should destroy Minnesota at home.

Yeh I got that feeling, T-Wolves 25 turnovers. That team is strugglin and it took AK play his best game and Paul to play really well for us to hang on and win. Too much inconsistency on the jazz. Only consistency lately is raja bell will struggle. Get to the gym raja!

Sweet!

We rule! We can beat a team that is 29 games behind the Spurs, 14 1/2 games behind the #8 spot, by 8 points at home......

Have our expectations fallen so greatly that people are actually calling this game a good sign? We avoided another L. But other than that???........

What exactly are our expectations? Serious question.

When you're in the midst of a catastrophic 6 game losing streak than yes, I would call a game like tonights and the one vs the Spurs a good sign. Our expectations should always be to win, we did that, that was what I expected.

now 2 out of 43 games for raja with double digit scoring.... so weak... start cj already

The timberwolves can score. And we rebounded well also.

Good win, still need to get a 2. Doesn't even need to be a good player. Anything is an upgrade from The Raja Smell.

On one hand, CJ is the only player in the 2nd unit that can do anything in a half-court offense. On the other hand, the 2nd unit runs, the 1st unit doesn't and they still can't score in a half-court offense in the first half.

...

I lost my train of thought.

I hate that Raja is struggling, but if you bench him, then he his likely the first one off the bench either way and we end up with the same struggling line up. Because Raja is going to play either way, so how do you fix it?

A win is a win, so thank god for that tonight.

That being said, is it too much to ask for 10 points out of the Raja/Memo combo?

I think Bell could play a little better if he would play in short stretches of say 5-6min couldn't hurt to try it what's he going to do start missing WIDE OPEN shots and playing average defense, the only thing that would take a hit is offensive fouls drawn.

I know Fes got a lot of grief for taking himself out of a game so Elson could come in since he's a better FT shooter, personally I didn't mind it and thought it was pretty good self awareness. The reason I bring this up is I know I can't be the only that thought wouldn't it be nice if Raja could swallow his pride and be self aware. Realize him playing 30+ min is not good for the team and take himself out, I know it's not realistic and wouldn't happen but just sayin'.

Damn Skippy, it's gotta start sometime right? This was a lose lose for some fans, they lose and then obviously everybody bitches, they win like last night and well they should've won by more after all it's the T-Pups and if they blow them out still some will say that's what they're supposed to do.

The win doesn't take that 6 game stretch away but nothing will take that horrific slide away just have to move past it and start somewhere and hopefully the Jazz have. It's not going to take away their weaknesses or flaws but playing with more energy, hustle, running and executing can overcome or mask some of those.

In the end I guess despite all their individual player short comings I 'm saying I just want the Jazz to be the best Jazz they can collectively be and that's all I can ask.

and I watched the game on league pass with the Timberwolves announcers and what struck me was how they'd seem so excited when Al Jefferson made a good play, almost as if his were still on their team

the feed was inconsistent though, and there where stretches where it just cut out - anyone else have that problem?

I know I felt the same way, I think that's why it felt like the lead was bigger then it really was. what was it 25 TO's total and with 20 being steals that would usually lead to easy baskets and the Jazz did have 30 points off of TO's. Not to keep piling on him but I know Raja missed a couple of fast break J's so he then tried to pass off of a steal and turned it over with a bad decision and off a semi break he got blocked one time.

I think not scoring off a steal or fast break doubly kills the momentum it demoralizes the team (Jazz) and gives momentum and a second life so to speak back to the other team (T-Pups).

So I guess what I'm saying is not all missed shots or TO's are not created equal some have much more meaning and affect momentum that the box score cannot show.

Raja should take himself out? Are you kidding? Isn't that what coaches are for? Yes, it is.

Why does he have to play at all? He is a big zero right now and should sit.

At this point I have been watching for the the team to bottom out and regain confidence. After the spurs game I knew that there was still a will to win. After this game, I know that some confidence is returning. Not every player has found it. Usually one guy at a time is in a slump. I view the losing streak as a "team slump." Something that is rare and not a good sign, but not something that is permanent.

From here I have hope that we can build on turning things around. I won't be too surprised if they drop a few more ugly games before the groove is back. It took us a month and a half during the decline, and I expect it to take a while for us to fully get it back. I hope I eat crow, but that's what I expect.

Great question.

I was thinking we could kill Matt Harpring. Make Raja the next blah blah blah guy.

Thoughts?
Oh and Deron who, freakazoid for pres. repped.
This deserves its own thread.

So, I can't wait for the day when the Jazz bring back Wes Matthews when he's all washed up at the end of his career.
