What's new

time for KOC to do something

Ty Corbin said he was going to sit down with Kevin and evaluate the team over the AllStar break.

What if--the jazz realize they are disfunctional to the point of divorce with a certain pg. Think they could package that pg and a lame memo and anybody else (CJ or Raja) who wanted to be gone for a large expiring contract and a combination of picks and young talent?

Jazz could clear thier books for next year, and acquire a bunch of assets in one move.
A bunch of cheap or rookie contracts would be nice coming back from the lock-out. Call Houston today KOC

Jazz have Deron under contract for a couple more seasons so there would certainly be some teams willing to part with pieces to make a deal. It's not like 'Melo and NY where the attitude is "we'll just sign him as a FA next year."

I wouldn't be too shocked if Deron is traded. There are some good PG's around the league. Deron is certainly one of the best, but as MANY have pointed out in the past, is PG a position where you want to pay out a MAX contract.

If you could get two quality starters, or one starter and a high lottery pick, you'd have to consider a trade, especially if Deron has been a big part of the problem (which only Greg, KOC and the currrent and former coaches would know).

Several players who can help really help the Jazz and the chances of getting these players are decent compared to what have been suggested (i.e. Kevin Martin, Danny Granger, Stephen Jackson, Andre Iguodala, etc.):

1) John Salmons - may have to take Maggette's contract along for AK's expiring. Delfino is playing great for them at the 2 and they have Douglas-Roberts who can fill the void. Also words are Michael Redd is in good shape so they have a surplus of wingmen. The team is not doing great so they might opt to save some money. If we are desperate, Millsap for Salmons will work too but I don't think that's the way to go.

2) Jamal Crawford - may have to take a long-term deal like Marvin Williams or Zaza Pachulia, again for AK's contract and possibly Fes or Price. Crawford is on an expiring contract but he is a sharp shooter that can help the Jazz at the 2. The Hawks' cap situation is a mess with the extensions to Johnson, Smith and Horford so a big expiring like AK's helps.

3) Anthony Morrow - if we can somehow involved in a trade that ship Carmelo out of Denver to New Jersey. Shipping Carmelo to the East is the primary benefits here and the Jazz will get a light-out shooter back.

That's all I can think of. I would love to get Kaman but I don't think the Clippers values AK that high.

I'm advocating the trade D-will, Bell and Memo position. 1st it makes the most financial sense to the owner, 2nd--it is more fun, 3rd- I'm personally tired of watching Deron get beat every night and figure we might as well trade him now while some teams still think he is amoung the leagues best.

So I want D-Will, Okur, and Bell to Houston for Yao's Expiring contract, Terrance Williams, Patterson or Hill, Lowry, two 1st round picks and a 2nd round pick.

Jazz get financial stability when 34 Million comes off the books next year, they get two rookie contracts, a sg/sf combo, a big man that can come off the bench, an affordable pg and some picks to replace all the ones that are gone.

Houston wants a star, so they get a contract that is partially covered by insurance, 'one of the leagues best point gaurds' and they can trade away Bell in the offseason.

Better yet, **** KOC, as Jazz fanz, we just need to accept that our team is complete and utter garbage.

Here's my priority list:

1- Trade Okur for anything expiring. Figure out how to get Houston or someone to take him.
2- Trade AK for either young assets, expiring contracts that equal less than what he's being paid, a pick, or a combination of the three
3- Trade Raja to LA for a TPE

Then we'll have 30 million coming off the books this offseason, and we can get a lot younger. I think going after a young center (Oden, Thabeet) would be ideal right now, because we could get them dirt cheap and there's not much risk involved.

1- There used to possibly be a market, there isn't anymore. Why would anyone want Memo unless it's to give us a worse contract?
2- Not the worst idea, but still not the most plausible. The Jazz might as well hold on 'til the end.
3- LA isn't under the cap and unless we want to take on Luke Walton, they're not trading anything to us.

I know its not horribly realistic to dump Okur, but I still would like to try. Maybe some team is willing to take a risk on him.

Kirilenko will probably be dumped for another expiring that saves us 3-4 million this year, and i'm fine with that.

I know LA isn't under the cap, that's why I said they would use a TPE dumbass.

Kirilenko's injury couldn't have come at a worse time, now I figure we just dump his contract to save some money, this team(with AK being the highest paid player) is not worth the money we are spending.

Mayb if AK had some cajones to play through a little bit of pain we'd be a little better off. I don't mind seeing him go

I agree that AK doesn't play through pain but that ankle sprain looked pretty bad to me.

Are you joking? His ankle got messed up. Watch the freakin' replay. I'm more interested in Bell's ghostly injury.

Really, LOAP, really? I'd think you were praying for a phantom injury. I hate to see anyone get injured, but fake injuries are totally rootworthy.

Jefferson's a solid player. So is Millsap. They're flawed but you get my point. So my question is, who the heck can we get, not right now, but in the next year or two, before DWill's contract is up, who is an upgrade over both of them and who is a piece who'd be enough to convince DWill to stay? Seriously, most of the "studs" are flocking to a handful of teams. So who's the guy who's maybe not "the man" yet or who is that fills a need who would be an upgrade over either, regardless of position, relatively speaking of course?

Granger ina year or two if he becomes disenchanted? Bogut if the same unfolds there? Josh Smith if it's obvious they won't or can't re-up on him? Marc Gasol if they won't or can't after shelling out for Rudy? Are they even upgrades, again, regardless of position? Smith seems like he'd be the most attainable in that I'm not sure I can see the Hawks re-upping him since they dished out a lot to Johnson and Horford already. Not now but come next year...God only knows.

I get a lot of Jazz fans dont want Deron to stay...I think they want him gone for whatever reason. If thats the case, let the franchise rebuild...again.

1) I'd rather get Delfino and Maggette then Salmons. But I like the idea and I think that the Bucks would be scary with AK and Bogut!

2) If we could get Jamal with a signed extnsn for 3 years at like 8 million a year. I wouldn't mind taking back Williams contract. It would save them a ton of money and it would give Ut the 2 guard they need and the much needed Depth off the bench.

3) Murphy and Morrows for AK. i'd be ok with that

4) I too like Kamen but the Clippers our looking for a 3 and if we traded AK it would have to be for Gomez Kamen. Which really leaves us bare at the 3 unless, Utah then Moved Millsap for a 3?

But I liked the idea and I just hope Utah does somthing
