What's new

time for KOC to do something

I would fall out of my rocking chair if the jazz use the expiring AK deal to acquire more over paid mediocre talent. They luxary tax paying days of the jazz are soon to be done.

Jefferson's a solid player. So is Millsap. They're flawed but you get my point. So my question is, who the heck can we get, not right now, but in the next year or two, before DWill's contract is up, who is an upgrade over both of them and who is a piece who'd be enough to convince DWill to stay? Seriously, most of the "studs" are flocking to a handful of teams. So who's the guy who's maybe not "the man" yet or who is that fills a need who would be an upgrade over either, regardless of position, relatively speaking of course?

Blake Griffin.

Here's a trade that could help us AND Milwaukee:
https://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=68wwle7

Okur (recovering from injury)
AK (expiring)
Price (3rd string PG/SG, defensive guy, which Milwaukee likes)
Evans (young and raw, upside)

FOR

Redd (recovering from injury, expiring)
Maggette (replaces AK at SF. A better scoring option)
Ilyasova (6'10" 255 PF/C with a decent jumper)
Dooling (a fiesty PG/SG combo; better at PG than Price, and he's a defender)

I'll pass. Ilyasova is another soft euro that can't even shoot as good as Okur. Maggette is old and a black hole. Dooling is trash like Price.
Taking Evans out and it might be worth discussing.

Likely all we will see is a salary dump in anticipation of the lockout and new CBA and the possibility of league contraction, so they have money to play with then. They know they are not going to pull out a trade that will take us to the finals this year and there is too much unknown in the next few years.

Maggette may be a black hole, but is a better scoring option than AK. And from the times I've seen Ilyasova, he's far from soft. Looks plenty physical to me. Dooling is better offensively than Price, either PG or SG, and prolly not quick as Price defensively, but still plenty aggressive.

Yeah, we all know a salary dump is coming, but trades are way more fun <grin>...

That is true. I think we should trade the entire team for expiring contracts then when the lockout ends we will have zero payroll and can go after everybody!

Come on guys, let's not forget that Jerry Sloan has been holding us back for 48 years.

Now that he's gone, I expect us to win the rest of our games.

Ok, now that we've lost 3 in a row, let's face the truth.

Corbin is obviously destroying this team. Once we get rid of Corbin, we'll start winning.

Book it.

Jazz save around 4 million (Which is closer to 8 million because of the luxury tax savings). Jazz also get perimeter scorers in Jackson and Maggette. They also get Najera who would be a good hustle player. Nazr just works to make the money work but it doesn't hurt to have another center on the team.

Jazz
D-Will - Watson - Price
S-Jax - Bell
Maggette - Hayward - Evans
Millsap - Najera - Elson
Jefferson - Fesenko - Nazr - Elson

Bucks clear cap space and get AK to play the PF spot (expiring). And get CJ miles who is cheaper and younger than there older wing players. Bucks do this for financial reasons and to get younger.

Bucks
Jennings - Dooling - Boykins
CJ Miles - Douglas-Roberts - Redd
Delfino - Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
AK - Gooden - Sanders
Bogut - Brockman

Bobcats I am not sure they would do this. But I do know they need a Center and are struggling because of it. This would all depend on how Okur's physical. I think the bobcats would need a little more to make it happen. Maybe a draft pick from the Jazz or Bucks.

Bobcats
Augustin - Livingston - Collins
Salmons - Henderson -Carroll
Wallace - McGuire
Diaw - TyThomas - Ilyasova
Okur - Brown - DeSagana Diop

It's too bad that the Jazz probably won't make a blockbuster trade

As you look at the landscape of the NBA, there really are no blockbuster trades out there. I think the looming lockout provides for enough uncertainty that not many teams are looking to make big moves. Cap space is probably the best thing most teams hope to get in anticipation of restructured caps both for team payroll and player salaries, which could make current player salaries very expensive.

in alot of ways having ak's contract simply expire would be better than taking back just an average player with a big contract. glad that rumored trade about getting boris diaw didnt happen.
