Another item along these lines: why don't the Jazz try to make the other team pay more for having a bigger guy guard Deron? They are doing this all the time and it generally makes life tougher on Deron. If Deron can outquick the guy, they ought to just let him go one on one multiple times until they get tired of that abuse. Deron does some of that but more is needed.

The other is to have our SG abuse the smaller guy guarding him. Last night it was Bibby guarding Raja. I did see them try to post up Bibby once last night, but that is the only time I can remember the Jazz trying to take advantage of that.

I suspect this is ole Jer just wanting to run his offense with no regard to what the other team is doing. Stupid.

This seems reasonable and accurate.

Because the other wing players on the opposing teams are cheating to help when Deron tries to take guys off the dribble. It's hard to go 1 on 3. Unfortunately, Raja and AK haven't shown the ability or willingness to take and hit wide open 20 - 25 footers.

Sap and Deron deserve to start. No one else brings the energy or performance to guarantee a spot as a starter.

fixed it for you.

This sounds like it could be used as the beginning of an argument to start CJ over Bell. I, at least, feel more confident with him shooting or driving than Bell.

I like Raja, but he needs to be used more situationally.

I was a big fan of starting AK, but I haven't been that blown away with his role in the opening quarter.

It's time to start experimenting.... maybe bring AK and Raja off of the bench. Start CJ and Hayward.

???

Starting line up should be Deron - CJ - Sap - Big Al - Fes

I wouldn't mind seeing that line up thrown out there. How much worse could the be than what we're getting? Another thing I would like to see Sloan do more of is try to out coach the other guy. Meaning, when we are playing a big team (Lakers) put a line up out there than makes it hard on them. If a coach was constantly mixing things up then the other team would have to make adjustments. As it is now, I think after the first game of the season every coach in the league knows exactly who and when Sloan is going to sub. The only thing that changes that are the injuries.

I really like that lineup.

If Sloan is willing to work Hayward into the 2nd-unit on a consistent basis (and if Hayward's able to consistently shoot the basketball), I wouldn't be against a Deron, Bell, Miles, Millsap, Jefferson starting lineup. I know he's wildly inconsistent but CJ played really well as a starter in the playoffs last season, and he would give Utah a more versatile SF to improve perimeter shooting (forget the %'s, CJ's a better knock-down shooter than AK) who can also cut and put the ball on the floor (much, much better than Bell).

I stress Hayward's importance in replacing AK with CJ because while AK could provide great energy off the bench, he's an inconsistent and streaky scorer, and I don't like him replacing Utah's best half-court offensive option on the 2nd-unit (Miles). Hayward would provide somone else who can score the ball in our halfcourt sents, and if Okur can get healthy his knock-down shooting ability would really bolster the 2nd-unit.

I really like this idea. I think AK could be talked into coming off of the bench and CJ may get more confidence and better looks while playing with the starter's a bit more.

Rep given for a good idea.

I think it should be AK. For whatever reason, Hayward struggled filling in for Bell but did a very nice job filling in for AK. Plus AK's used to coming off the bench and may be a good sparkplug and could mesh with the defensive intensity the bench seems to bring. Although Bell could too, but wouldn't be quite the sparkplug.

I guess it is time to re-state my idea:
Bring AK AND Bell off of the bench; start CJ and Hayward. I don't think there is any doubt that we have more offensive potential with this unit. The question becomes whether we give up too much in defense. AK is the first guy off the bench for Hayward; Bell subs in for CJ. Their offense should be elevated by playing against second units. They should help protect leads.

alternatively, we could see what it takes to bring Brewer back ;)

I like the idea of starting CJ, but not together with Hayward. I think Hayward can bring energy off the bench that we need still, and AK can be our backup PF.

I think the Jazz should go with these lineups.

DW, CJ, Hayward, Jefferson, Okur (when healthy)
Watson, Bell, AK, Millsap, Fess/Elson (depends on match ups).

The Jazz lose a little defense but they gain more offense and they can play inside out with AJ and Okur. The Jazz need more scoring off the bench. Price and Evans situational playing time only.

I think Bell has got to be benched. The only thing he can do is spot up shoot and that's just not enough. He never makes plays for others cause he can't dribble. I think you have to go with Gordon or CJ at the 2.

If Sloan wants to keep Bell in the starting lineup I think he needs to sit either Milsap or Al and counter with a more defensive minded lineup by starting Fes.
