This is just silly to talk about Zion. Even if Mitchell were out for an extended period of time, there are 4 teams way worse than Utah:
Atlanta, Cleveland, Phoenix and Chicago. And I'd put New York and Washington below Utah. Then you have teams like Dallas and Brooklyn that would be "fighting" Utah for the next tier of the lottery. Utah has a very slim chance at finishing 5th, if they continued their terrible shooting and had injuries. More likely is in the 8-10 range.

The lottery odds changed this year bud. You dont have to be the worst to have a good shot this year.

We currently have the 8th worst record in the league. We're on par with the Nets.
I don’t think I’ve been this embarrassed about a group I’m socially connected to or associated with since Trump got elected.

I finally stopped watching the NFL this year. Don’t miss it at all. The NBA would be harder to quit, but maybe that means it would only be that much sweeter to be free from.

I enjoy watching the league. We weren't going to win the chip this year, so it's fine to be a work in progress.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Right now, we're getting open shots for Rubio and Crowder and they're shooting in the 20% range. I don't know if that's fixable.

Uhhh, it's obviously fixable. Crowder is a 35% career shooter on open 3's. He's shooting 30% now. That's going to go back to the mean eventually.

Honestly though unless you get to 10th worst it isn’t any different. At 10th & 8th worst there are some probability jumps.

We’d have a couple things working for us... Sacramento and Dallas won’t tank because their picks are likely being sent to Boston and Atlanta... but

Unless this DM rib injury lingers... sounds like it’s been a thing since Philly according to Locke I don’t see us being bad enough to tank. Rudy hasn’t really turned on his DPOY defense yet so maybe he doesn’t turn it on and we can get an okayish shot at a top 4 pick. Maybe we can get eliminated early and do the Grizz one year tank mode.

If we’re tanking, might as well trade Ingles to see what we can get and so he doesn’t waste his remaining years playing for a loser.

The time to tank was last year, not this year. We had the perfect cover with Gobert's multiple injuries. We could have easily just kept him sidelined until the end of the season and sold out all the pieces that won't be part of the future of the Jazz but for good or bad that didn't happen. Now like others have said here tanking is close to impossible, unless Gobert suffers another injury that can sideline him for several months. We are not great right now, but we are also not horrible and Gobert will win us some games as long as he's on the floor.

For years I’ve been hoping we wouldn’t turn into the Utah Grazz. But Memphis 2.0 is looking more and more likely.

Yes, I know they did, including the addition of the 4th pick as part of the lottery. Still, the talk about Zion is just silly. The Jazz likely could finish no higher than 5th (and to accomplish that feat would likely require major injuries). They're still much better than Phoenix, Cleveland, Chicago and Atlanta. And even if their struggles continued, they'll probably still finish ahead of a handful of teams: let's say New York, Washington, Brooklyn, maybe Dallas and Utah all fight it out for the 5-10 seeds. So put Utah in the middle. What are the odds the 7th worst team gets the #1 pick?

You know the worst part of this whole mess? Lindsey will again be reluctant to include the Jazz' pick in a trade because it's looking like a lottery pick. So we're in the Mirotic situation all over again. Dennis "Do Nothing" will likely turn down some good trade opportunities unless the Jazz turn it around and are looking like a solid playoff team.

Actually the definition of insanity is

in·san·i·ty
/inˈsanədē/
noun
  1. the state of being seriously mentally ill; madness.
"he suffered from bouts of insanity"
synonyms: mental illness, madness, dementia; More
    • extreme foolishness or irrationality.
      plural noun: insanities
"it might be pure insanity to take this loan"
      synonyms: folly, foolishness, madness, idiocy, stupidity, lunacy, silliness;
      informalcraziness
"it would be insanity to take this loan"

However it does fit the 2nd definition to do the same thing over and over expecting different results.

So in a nutshell, GO TANK!
