The time to tank was last year, not this year. We had the perfect cover with Gobert's multiple injuries. We could have easily just kept him sidelined until the end of the season and sold out all the pieces that won't be part of the future of the Jazz but for good or bad that didn't happen. Now like others have said here tanking is close to impossible, unless Gobert suffers another injury that can sideline him for several months. We are not great right now, but we are also not horrible and Gobert will win us some games as long as he's on the floor.

Last year the tank pool was too crowded though... some serious tank efforts. Although swapping Grayson for SGA or Miles bridges would be nice even if we hadn’t gone full tank.

We are at full strength and sucking ***... if the DM injury lingers a week or two and December gets us we are in the late lotto. If we have another key injury (Ingles or Rudy) we are mid/late lotto. Odds for 7-9 are now okayish at jumping in top 4. It’s the new tank. Don’t have to be bottom five just bottom 10 and lucky.

I want DL and the Jazz to sit in their filth a little so they can know what passing on good opportunities feels like... we clearly don’t make changes until it’s way past due... so let’s see the Ricky Rudy Favs lineup all damn year.

Sadly free agency will end up being a bust but we will hopefully land a difference maker in the lotto. Just don’t take a 10 year project like Exum this time.

If we’re tanking, might as well trade Ingles to see what we can get and so he doesn’t waste his remaining years playing for a loser.

I can’t get behind any strategy that includes trading Joe... I know we won’t because DL can’t ever let go of any of our guys.

For me it it so sad. Jazz 2 time get top 5 pick in past 10 year and end up with crazy person Kanter and weakly exum. This is jazz problems. No luck in top 5. Lucky we can find it honey and hero Mitchell. So sad we can’t be bad when good players are top 5.

Dis the truth.

I doubt Gobert would be happy spending his prime on a losing team. We need to aggressively pursue a trade.

This post is 100% fire.

He’s part of the big issue. His defense at the rim hasn’t been nearly what it was last year. No logical explanation for it other than it’s hard and he doesn’t want to do it every night. Our defense is built on funneling everything to Rudy and having him deal with dudes. This year he’s been average... he has to be amazing for it to work. He can be amazing he just hasn’t.

I dont think its Goberts problem, well not one that he can fix. Teams are shooting from outside and he cant defend the perimeter. He cant help being 7'2"

I guess you missed that he's grabbing half of the available loose balls/area rebounds that he was last year. Or just watching him play flat-footed A LOT.

Or maybe they could change the scheme and force baseline so that anyone besides Gobert is responsible for the quality of the defense. I kind of think this team of rough-and-tumble defensive players have gotten spoiled and their individual ability on defense has lost a significant edge.

Or that opponents are shooting like 10% better at the rim this year on him... he is absolutely part of the issue right now.

Someone has to remind him that the thing that made him so special is that no one outworked him and no one did a better job cleaning up bad shots and bad offense (but he didn't need offense run for him). There is absolutely no shame in how he played two years ago.

Yup... his block percentage has gone from 6.4% two years ago to 6 last year to 4.9 this year. Everyone is part of our struggles including Rudy.

2 years ago, Gobert's opp fg% within 5 feet was 54.6%. This year it's 61.5%.

Edit: All of his opp fg% are worse compared to past 2 years across all shooting ranges. Sometimes by a lot.
