Right now I'm seeing a banner ad from the NBA store about gearing up for the Lakers 2013 playoff run. Ugh. Now let's talk more about the Jazz. I don't want to see this banner ad ever again!
I've had to turn off the national media outlets completely. While I do think it is Utah's (and LA's...) that they could have won basically 1 more game and not be in position like this, I just can't stand the media's overemphasis of "big market" teams. If I was a casual observer, I would think that only LA, NY, and Miami were the only places that there were basketball teams.
And yes, I realize that this thread with its title will probably make that banner ad show up more.
Those banners you see are called retargeting campaigns. They track your cookies and feed you ads depending on the sites you have recently visited. My ads right now are about cruises. Just an FYI.

Nope. Like he said, it's highly-targeted based on the web sites he was visiting. This is the one that flashed across his screen:Just got married, bro?
