top 5 destinations

Other than shopping I was in a bar getting smashed. No one ever wanted to try local food so if I wanted some I usually had to beg to stop for a second at a street vendor selling shawarmas or something.

Well, first, Dubai is an amazing city. Very friendly and metropolitan. However, I saw it as a U.S. Navy Sailor. You are not allowed to leave the ship by yourself or be alone in the city at all. Very strict buddy-system policy. Why I'm telling you that is because I didn't really get to go to all the places I wanted or do the things I wanted to do. We usually went out in groups of around 6. If you try to get 6 sailors to agree on what to do you always seem to come up with the same option--go to a bar (or a strip club if you're not in a Muslim country). So, most of what I saw overseas was the insides of bars. In case anyone wants the mystery revealed, bars are pretty much the same wherever you go.

That said, go to the gold sook. It's probably nuts now with the price of gold, but imagine a huge open air strip mall except every single shop sells nothing but gold jewelry. Oh, and if you want a fake rolex or counterfit DVDs just catch the eye of one of the shady-looking guys lurking in the small alley-ways. I don't know if they all came out because an aircraft carrier was in port, but they constantly asked us if we wanted some bling-bling. If you go to the gold sook get the price of gold before you head out and know that you should pretty much pay for any jewelry item based on its weight. You can't buy a pack of gum in Dubai without haggling, so never ever pay the asking price. Once at the gold sook you'll be near several other sooks (for some reason one street is where they sell all the perfume, one street is shoes, one is tobacco). The spice sook is great! You can get saffron at amazing prices. I bought a full ounce of premium spanish saffron for about $50 USD. I also bought several very nice looking crystal perfume bottles that I gave to all the women I knew.

Sweet, thanks for the info! I'm sure my wife will love it! Her favorite thing is market shopping!

Oh, thanks.

When I come to USA, I will travell all the inches of it. :) If I don't have enough money then, then I'll do it in the Forrest Gump fashion.

I strongly recomend the deep south, rocky mountains, and look for smaller towns (like 20-40k population)

If you get to do South Africa go to the east coast! Durban is a beautiful city and has the best weather in south Africa! Plus just two hours north is an amazing game park called hluhluwe imfolozi game reserve! I'm doing a 4 day hiking safari there in May for my 30 th Bday!

And Australia is awesome as well!!

I've been next to nowhere but have heard from a pretty well-traveled co-worker that South Africa is absolutely beautiful.

Despite being in almost every state in the USA and traveling to a handful of countries this is my top 5 because I can walk home from them, which sometimes gets sidetracked by heckling BYU students on campus who are still up at 2am on campus because it lots of fun while intoxicated. (unless your a provo cop in which case this doesn't happen)

1. ABG's Provo, UT
By far the best Bar in Utah county, not saying much but still the best we got.

2. City Limits Provo, UT
This place is pretty disgusting and the people are kind of gross but hey its a bar in provo so...

3. The Madison
Just opened up and if you want to meet a girl who is trashy and wears too much makeup or if you like guys who are d-bags this is the place

4. The Watering Hole Provo, UT
its a Biker bar on old state st heading to springville its rarely open and they probably wont let you in when it is open. Also the building is falling apart and looks abandoned since the 50's but hey its a bar in Provo.

5. This is a tie for all the restaurants and the hotel bars in Provo
Few of them have good beer and the few that do you have to deal with dirty looks when you order them and assume the waitress spit in it. Also I am pretty sure they only ID you so they can figure out who your bishop is to turn you in.

6. Just throwing a shout out to the gas stations and grocery stores who let me buy my beer on Sunday now, thank you!

7. I know it supposed to stop and 5 but I just remembered Utah County sheriffs department.
They let me come in and drink for free so they can practice DUI situations. Greatest most civic volunteer work I have done to date.

The big plus with my list is I visit them frequently!

are you from South Africa? I am asking because that's where my wife is from. She was born in Durban. I have made it to South Africa but only to Joburg and surrounding area.

No, but my wife is as well! Her family is from Richards bay area. We are headed there in May to visit family. Only been to Joburg once and it was only overnight. What part of Durban is your Wife from??

This May will be my fifth time back to South Africa and I am totally stoked. I'm hoping this is the time I finally see a leopard!

Do you know who Die Antwoord is? They are really weird and from South Africa, not saying all people from there are like that just curious.

No clue what part, she was just born there. She lived in Joburg and thats where all of her family is now.
Nope, they sound like they are Afrikaaners?
Ya I belief so. Their music lyrics and their music videos are the some of the weirdest things I have ever seen.

lol, they are a fun group of people. I love their soap operas they make Latino soap operas look mild with drama.
